MILANI Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer
00A Porcelain
Looks like Milani finally created an actual pale shade. I already have a review for this foundation where I stated it's one of my favourite formulas ever, so I'm hoping the shade is pale enough (swatch). I've only seen proper comparison swatches of 00B and it's another joke, just like 00.
$10

THEBALM Girls Getaway Trio Long-Wearing Bronzer/Blush
Two of the shades I really want (Balm Springs and Balm Beach) in one palette plus the one I was also interested in (Desert Balm) - sign me up. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could find it here. Swatches.
$24.00

MILANI Amore Matte Lip Cream
Attraction
I still have no proper red liquid lipstick and this one looks so amazing on swatches. I want something like L'Oreal's Blake, so a cool toned red and this looks somewhat like it - as long as it doesn't turn out that it'll look darker on me because I don't need another burgundy. Swatch.
$9.00

RIMMEL Stay Matte Liquid Lipsticks
100 Blush, 500 Firestarter and 650 Plum this show
These are new to me and I hear a lot of positive feedback about these. I hope they are truly properly matte and that they don't have that awful Rimmel scent. Two versions of packaging exist, but the shade names are the same. Swatches.
€7.19

THEBALM Meet Matte Hughes
Sincere
I love the formula of these and so far it's my favourite. Sincere is similar to my beloved Committed, just more mauve. Swatch.
$17.00

MAYBELLINE SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick
Loyalist, Dreamer and Pioneer
Another matte liquid lipstick formula I've heard raves about and now I've seen they finally reached Germany, so there is a chance they'll soon be here too. Or at least online, but I want to see these in person. Swatches.
$9.49

PHYSICIANS FORMULA Butter Blush
Plum Rose
I put this in my last wishlist post too, but it's only now become accessible to me. I recently heard they launched four highlighters too.
$12.99

I've gone through most of my samples and I find this has the best results on my skin. It refines the skin texture, so it looks much better with or without makeup.
$17.96

THE ORDINARY Argireline Solution 10% and Hyaluronic Acid 2% +B5
Argireline solution promises to work on dynamic folds, so I'd like to give it a try on my smile lines, while the fact my skin soaks everything like a sponge indicates it's very likely I need hyaluronic acid in my routine and I trust The Ordinary most.
€7.20; €6.80

MEDIHEAL X-Line Friends Ampoule Masks
I.P.I. Lightmax,  E.G.T Timetox Ampoule Mask and N.M.F Aquaring Ampoule Mask
I'm not thrilled about the price for one of these, but I heard Mediheal has great sheet masks and the packaging is so adorable. The pink bunny one promises a brightening effect and I'm a sucker for that, while the blue one is super moisturising and the yellow bear one works anti-ageing. Review.
$3.80

PAPA RECIPE Bombee Honey Whitening Mask and Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack
I've tried a lot of sheet masks in this year and these two were the most impressive, especially whitening version is my favourite ever. I'd like to get a pack of these.
$13.50 (5pc); $18.54 (5pc)

THE FACE SHOP The Solution Mask Sheet
I only tried Pearl which was fantastic and I so enjoyed everything about it (sheet has the most perfect fit ever) that I want to try all of them. But I'm delaying all my K-Beauty purchases because shipping is still impossibly slow and everything gets stopped at customs now.
$13.99 (7 pc)

BILOU Creamy Shower Foam
Apple Slushy, Donut and Lovely Peach
I have Fizzy Berry which impressed me a lot and in the shop I liked most of the scents, so I'd love to give more of these a try and also body sprays if I can find them.
€3.95

Bourjois Contour Edition Lip Liner Nude Wave

$

0

This is my second shade of Bourjois' Contour Edition liners. The other shade I have is called Cotton Candy, which you can frequently see in my before/afters in foundation reviews and I love the formula so much, I always planned on getting more shades, but these aren't the cheapest drugstore lip liners. Cotton Candy is a very wearable light natural pink shade, while Nude Wave is a muted rosy brown shade that for some might be close to their natural lip colour.

I've already spoke about the formula in Cotton Candy's review, but it's one of those liners that's quite soft, yet not so much as the old Essence lipliner formula and it is still waxy enough that it retains enough precision and works as a standalone lip product. Pigmentation is great on both shades I own and the application is smooth, without skipping due to dryness. The softness does have a bad side and that is that it's one of those liners that needs to be sharpened often.

Nude Wave is a muted rosy-brown shade that I just didn't expect will look so boring on me on its own. Regardless it's perfect to pair with my rosy-brown shades, like Golden Rose Velvet in 12 and Makeup Factory Velvet Rosewood. It's actually the colour I've needed for a while and everything I bought was too mauve.

These are pretty expensive at 6.49 €, but I'm still considering getting the red shade.

Have a great day!

Pale Foundations & Foundation Shade Lighteners

$

This is in no way an unique post, in fact it's been done many times and I relied on the information in other people's posts myself in the past, so I'm only adding my contribution to the beauty world, sharing my experience with foundations I found that have a very light shade and that I was able to get one way or another here in central Europe. We don't have anywhere near the selection you can find in North America or Asia, we don't even have the selection that's sold in our neighbouring countries. In fact, if you're looking for a very pale foundation in Slovenia, right now, you can buy very little of them, unless you're buying online. Most of mine are drugstore and I buy them in various types of undertones, finishes and coverage levels, so I hope you find my contribution helpful. I have full reviews of all foundations linked in this post, so you can read about them in detail and see the before/afters.

At the end also I added a list of all other very pale foundations that I was able to find, but I haven't tried them either because I can't get them at all, or I haven't had the opportunity to try them or they are too expensive (I noticed during making this post, it's not cheap to be pale). If you have any other recommendation, please share in the comments, you'll be a great help to me and other readers.

YELLOW UNDERTONE
NARS Sheer Glow Siberia - lightest shade I own, but very yellow
MAYBELLINE Fit Me Luminous + Smooth 110 Porcelain - second lightest, but close to Siberia just more neutral
MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Poreless 100 Warm Ivory - almost the same as Luminous + Smooth 110, no difference on the skin
MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Poreless 110 Porcelain - despite the same name as at Luminous + Smooth, this one is about a half a shade or maybe a full shade darker, but it's a very small difference on the skin due to light coverage. It's more yellow-peachy that both other Fit Mes
BOURJOIS Healthy Mix Serum - I put this one in all my swatches for comparison. It's darkest here, with a yellow undertone.

PINK UNDERTONE
REVLON Colorstay Foundation normal/dry skin 110 Ivory - lightest pink toned foundation I own and with the most proper pink tone.
MANHATTAN Easy Match Foundation 30 Soft Porcelain - a shade darker than Revlon.
BOURJOIS Healthy Mix 50 - similar to Fit me Matte + Poreless 110 and Easy Match, it's a bit darker once it sets and has a pink-peach undertone.
TONYMOLY Pokemon Cushion - most neutral, but still slightly pink, similar to fit me Matte + Poreless 110

MAYBELLINE Fit Me Matte + Poreless
100 Warm Ivory & 110 Porcelain
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: semi-matte
Undertone: yellow (both)
Price: 8.99 €
If you're looking for a proper selection of pale shades, so far this is one of the rare formulas I've found. In Europe we have several light shades in this line, the lightest is 100 (warm), followed by 102 (cool), 105 (cool) and 110 (warm). I've found just about everything I want in this foundation. The formula is light and pretty much invisible on the face when you blend it, the finish isn't that mask-like matte, instead it's more of a semi-matte and unlike a lot of foundations, it looks nice over pores as it somewhat fills them up a bit, therefore provides a very smooth base. I can't say this is a foundation that would perform well on very oily skin, since it's not matte, neither does it stay semi-matte, as even on me I notice some shine of the forehead on hotter days, but for my normal-combination skin it's great. It's a foundation for those who prefer light coverage, which is exactly what I like so much about it. I have two shades, both European version, since American version comes in a bottle without a pump. Shade 100 Warm Ivory is one of the palest shades I own, it has a yellow undertone that isn't that strong and it's my perfect match. I bought it in Austria because the lightest shade here is 110 Porcelain. The latter is also nicely light, just a shade darker than 100 and it has a slightly stronger yellow undertone. If you're NC10 you can wear both due to the light coverage.

BOURJOIS Healthy Mix Foundation
50 Rose Ivory
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: dewy
Undertone: pink
Price: 9.99 GBP
If you love the Serum version of this foundation, you'll like the newest version of Healthy Mix too. It's another very light formula with an invisible finish, except here you get a nice healthy, dewy finish, which again will suit those who don't have oily skin. Coverage is light to medium, so less than the original version and about the same as Serum. The latter is the only foundation I could use when my skin was dehydrated with dry patches, but since I haven't had those in a while,  I can't say if this one works the same, however, it is very similar, so I can assume it'll work too. Shade 50 Rose Ivory is a new shade they added in the last formula update and unlike 51 it's got a pink undertone. It's nicely pale, about a shade lighter than 51 and as I said it has a pink undertone, which actually isn't as true as at Colourstay Ivory or Rimmel 010 Light Porcelain, since it's more on the peachy side. It's not the lightest shade I own, but it's still very light (a cool version of Maybelline's Fit Me Matte EU version 110) and will suit fair cool skin tones.

MAYBELLINE Fit Me foundation normal/dry skin
110 Porcelain
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: dewy
Undertone: yellow
Price: 9.95 €
I had a bumpy start with this foundation and it looked horrible on me, but it's the perfect shade for my skin tone, so I of course wear it regardless. Since I've switched to Korean skincare, I found that a lot of foundations I hated, started to look a lot more decent on me, this one included, but it's still not my favourite. It's similar to Manhattan foundation bellow this one and Rimmel foundations in general, meaning the formula is light, but also kind of greasy and it looks terrible over problematic pores, plus sometimes doesn't fully set on the skin and can look very shiny, especially with time. Matte + Poreless version is so much better for most skin types, so I'd say try this one only if your skin is dry. 110 Porcelain is a one of the lightest shades I own and it has a yellow undertone that isn't as strong as at Sheer Glow. It's a smidgen lighter than M+P 100 Warm Ivory, but the difference is not noticeable on the skin.

MANHATTAN Easy Match Makeup
30 Soft Porcelain
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: natural, slightly dewy
Undertone: pink/neutral
Price: 9.99 €
Before I found Maybelline Fit Me M+P and Bourjois Healthy Mix, I had to settle for light coverage foundations like this one which does not look terribly pretty on my skin, so I used it to mix with other foundations that I liked a lot more and their shades were too dark. My version is a couple of years old and in the mean time they changed the packaging (it's like Rimmel's now) and pulled this brand from Slovenia, but actually this formula is exactly the same as Rimmel's Match Perfection, which has a fair shade with a pink undertone called 010 Light Porcelain. It's another foundation with a light formula that has a light-medium coverage, but in time it slips into pores and makes the skin texture look so much worse than it is. It's the type of formula that would kind of work with most skin types, just not very oily. Most people's reviews I read are very positive, but I just really don't like this foundation on most days. Shade 30 Soft Porcelain has a pink undertone and it's closest to Bourjois' 50, except a half a shade lighter. Manhattan has other foundations, such as Wake Up Makeup and Endless Perfection, which I believe also have fair shades and I think they are also the same as Rimmel foundations.

NARS Sheer Glow
Siberia
Coverage: medium-full
Finish: satin
Undertone: yellow
Price: 38 €
We're getting to the higher coverage foundations and this one is in general the lightest shade I own (though Nars' Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly is the lightest product I own and it's about a shade lighter than this and more neutral). I frequently describe this as my princess foundation because it makes you look almost retouched. In terms of how it looks on the skin, due to the coverage, it's not exactly the most natural looking foundation and your skin texture needs to be in good condition for it to look its best, otherwise it wears off a bit funny. This blends like a dream on the skin and the coverage is high enough that I don't wear concealer often with this one, but the price is so high and the lack of pump is an insult. I find that Revlon's Colorstay for dry skin performs very similar on me. Shade Siberia is as I said one of the lightest shades I own, but also one with the strongest undertone and I was shocked to see how yellow it is the first time I tried it. Due to that I mix it with Revlon since the formulas are so similar and the latter is pink, so I get a neutral undertone. Unlike all the foundations above, this one has a nice staying power.

REVLON Colorstay Foundation Normal/Dry Skin
110 Ivory
Coverage: medium-full
Finish: satin
Undertone: pink
Price: 15 €
As far as I'm concerned and based on my years long experience with the two performing on my skin, this is an almost the same foundation as Sheer Glow. The difference apart from the shade is that Sheer Glow feels like a high-end foundation when you're applying it, meaning it blends much easier than this one. But both have a medium-high coverage, the same satin finish and great staying power. Despite it being meant for dry skin, I don't find it's best when your skin is dry or patchy, instead it's more suited for normal combination to even oily skin. They have a special version for combination-oily skin which I used to own a long time ago in the same shade, but that one felt more mask-like to me and this version for dry skin has an almost matte finish on my skin anyway. Shade 110 Ivory is the lightest shade of foundations we can get in Slovenian drugstores (I hope I'm not wrong) and it is properly pale with a pink undertone. Out of my pink foundations, this is the lightest shade I own. Mine is the old bottle and the new one (finally!) comes with a pump.

TONYMOLY Pikachu Mini Cover Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++
01 Skin Beige
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: very dewy
Undertone: neutral, but slightly pink
Price: 10$
This was a limited edition cushion, but I've still seen it today at least on Jolse and I think Tonymoly has either the same or similar shades among their other cushion compact, possibly even their BB/CC creams (BCDation Moisture Cover Cushion and Mini Cover Cushion have the same shade name). Korean BB's and cushions have some very light shades, but not many come in a satin or matte finish, instead they tend to be very glowy which can look greasy. This one has a light coverage that just evens out the skin tone and it has this dewy finish that only people with dry skin will like. On a plus side this has a wonderful applicator - truly these sponges apply foundation so flawlessly - and this formula also has a high SPF. Shade 01 is not the lightest out of the ones featured here, but it's still very pale and it's one of the most neutral shades I own. I'd say it's about NC/W13.

Foundation shade lighteners/mixers

THE BODY SHOP Shade Adjusting Drops
Lightening
Finish: doesn't interfere with the texture of foundation
Shade: off-white pink
Price: 14 €
If you frequently have a problem finding a pale enough shade in foundation ranges, I highly recommend you get these drops from The Body Shop. These works amazingly well, they are an off-white pinkish liquid that has plenty of pigmentation, so one drop lightens quite a lot, for almost two shades I'd say (you can see how they work with each of my darker foundation in the review). Even if you find you need to use a lot of drops, this doesn't interfere or ruin the original consistency of the foundation, they aren't greasy, they don't ruin the foundation's staying power or change the finish. The only bad side is the packaging is remarkably annoying and it's quite difficult to get the product out, so I hope they'll change it to a pump sometime in the future. They are worth those 14 € because then you'll be able to use up all of those miss purchases and also will be able to buy hyped up foundations that don't have light enough shades.

CATRICE Prime & Fine Make Up Transformer Drops
Lightening
Finish: greasy
Shade: pale with a yellow undertone, it's a match for Nars Chantilly
Price: 3.49 €
Another lightener and it's leaves a lot to be desired. It works, but it's nowhere near TBS drops in terms of effectiveness. For one it's not exactly light, it's almost like a foundation shade for pale skins by itself, so you can't lighten more than that. You need to use a lot for a decent effect, they are also greasy so they ruin the finish of foundation as well as staying power, but if you need to lighten for a half a shade or maybe a full shade and you don't have any other option, this is ok. Well, passable. I hear a lot of positive things about NYX's drops, but I haven't tried them yet.

Other light foundations I owned and tried

RIMMEL Lasting Finish Nude Foundation
010 Light Porcelain
Coverage: medium
Finish: satin
Undertone: pink
Price: €10.39
I do not like Rimmel foundations as they always make my skin look so much worse than it is, but a lot of people like them. So if you're looking for a pale, pink toned foundation with a medium coverage, this one is worth trying out. I used it up for mixing with better foundations.

RIMMEL Match Perfection
010 Light Porcelain
Coverage: Light-medium
Finish: natural-dewy
Undertone: pink
Price: €10.39
Same goes here as for Lasting Finish, Rimmel foundation look so awful on my skin, but again, the shade is fair, cool toned, so worth checking out if you're looking for a light-medium coverage foundations.

MISSHA Signature Real Complete BB Cream
#13
Coverage: light-medium
Finish: dewy-satin
Undertone: neutral/grey
Price: about 17$
This is so far the lightest shade I ever found and the most neutral. It's somewhat neutral grey like a lot of Asian BB's, but it fit me really well. The finish was a bit too dewy for me and it didn't set properly for a long time, however, it's BB that looks nice on the skin and covers almost a medium despite the very light texture. It's heavily scented, that might be an issue for some - it's a floral baby powder scent. If you're looking for something very pale, I suggest you try this one.

THE ORDINARY Coverage foundation
1.1N
Coverage: medium-high
Finish: satin-dewy
Undertone: yellow
Price: 6.90 €
Actually a lighter shade exists called 1.0N, but I haven't had a chance to try it. Regardless even 1.1N is quite pale, but it's very far from being neutral. This one packs quite a lot of coverage, so I hated it in a normal layer because it looked so obvious on the skin, but blended out well in a sheer coat, it was decent. It's got a satin but also somewhat shiny finish, so it's so fat the only high coverage pale foundation I found that doesn't have an almost matte finish and I'd say it's more for dry-normal skin.

DIOR Diorskin Nude BB Creme
01
Coverage: light
Finish: matte-satin
Undertone: pink
Price: 37€
The shade of this one is almost the same as at Rimmel foundations, so their 010 Light Porcelain shade, which means it's fair with a strong pink undertone. It's somewhat like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, but with a satin finish meaning you get the same natural and invisible finish on the skin. The coverage is the lightest out of all the products here, but it still covers enough for my taste. Issues at this one are: 1. price, 2. the older it gets the more it oxidises on the skin and 3. high alcohol content.

Other light shades I heard about:

 1. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Stick Foundation - Alabaster ($25)
2. A'PIEU Cushion Air Fit - 13 ($7.00)

Makeup

Boots closed their International site (why?!) so I stocked up on everything I need, this included. I actually have Catrice's Camouflage concealer in 005 for full coverage, but the shade is a bit too yellow for me, while this shade is paler and pink so it suits me better. It's also a dupe for Nars Radiant Concealer, at least on my skin and I know some won't agree, but I see no difference between them. Along with the other two I mentioned, it's one of those concealers that cover a lot. It covers almost everything, except very red blemishes  might need another layer and it gives the skin almost a doll like effect because it erases so much. It can look cakey on dry skin, so I tend to use it sparingly, especially under the eyes where I reduce the amount to a little dot of product and blend it in well. It's got a good staying power and it can last you almost all day, though I haven't tried it on oily skin yet, but it's in general highly praised. I tend to use this only on more visible imperfections like red blemishes or if I'm very tired, so it's my in-case-of- emergency-concealer, but on a daily basis I much prefer Bourjois Radiance Reveal and Maybelline the Eraser.

H&M Makeup Sponge
There was a massive hype about this very affordable makeup sponge a while ago, but I managed to resist it despite the adorable unicorn packaging. Lana from Lana Talks surprised me with a lovely package for my blog's 7th anniversary where she included this sponge, so I can finally give it a whirl myself. Just like my fellow bloggers reported this is a super soft and bouncy sponge, one of the softest I ever tried and it reminds me a lot of the Nanshy sponge. It expands just like it should and it blends well while being very comfortable to use. You probably won't be able to find a better, more comfortable sponge for the price, so I highly recommend it if you like applying makeup with sponges. However, for me it doesn't beat my beloved oval brushes.

MAYBELLINE Super Stay Matte Ink
15 Lover and 20 Pioneer
These were far from love at first try and I just did not get the hype about these, but I'm warming up to them. What bothers me is their thick formula that stays sticky for the first half hour. But they stick to the lips like glue and remain 95% on the lips after 12+ hours, several meals, drinking and my constant annoying holding my hand over my lips while behind the computer, so I'm impressed. The formula somewhat differs between the two shades I have, Lover applies much smoother and more even, while for Pioneer more patience is needed and you definitely need a lip liner because the thick formula doesn't allow as much precision as I'd have wanted. They need about 10 minutes to set and initially feel like a heavy, sticky layer one the lips, but that goes away in time and too me they feel comfortable on the lips. Finish isn't a perfect matte as they still retain a bit of a shine, but they look matte enough. Whether these are nice for dry lips, I really can't say. Due to the layer feeling and based on my gut feeling I'd say no, but I've heard reviews saying these are nice on dry lips. They are very heavily scented with a coconut-like scent. Lover is a berry-mauve shade that's in the same colour family as Sephora Marvellous Mauve, while Pioneer is a perfect cool toned red with a pink-cherry base, just what I was looking for a while and it reminds me of L'Oreal's Blake.

*MAX FACTOR Honey Lacquer
Honey Rose
The press release that came with this was like usual quite exaggerated, but the tip of the ice berg was that it makes you lips "selfie ready", so it was specifically created for a "the generation that expresses themselves on social media".*rolls eyes* I will hold back my opinions about this. The name describes it as a lacquer, so a very pigmented gloss that's close to a lipstick, however, it's not quite in the same family as Rimmel's Apocalips, L'Oreal's Lip Paints and many others, as it's still more like a gloss than a very pigmented liquid lipstick. The packaging is beautiful with the gold details and these smell, as well as feel on the lips, like their old Silky Glosses, so they have a very comfortable formula and a cosmetic vanilla type of scent. My shade is a very pale cool toned pink which reminds me of a popular shade in the late 00's Mac's Underage Lipglass. It's a likeable product despite the annoying marketing, but I'd pick a different shade, since this one is hard to pull off on anyone.

AVON True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick
Awakening Rose
My third matte Avon lipstick, this time courtesy of Lana. At first glance it looks like the most tamed, natural shade in my small collection, however, it is quite bright on the lip and completely different than in the tube. It's a brightened peachy shade with some pink tones, a classic spring shade. Formula is the same at other two shades, a comfortable and smooth formula with an almost matte finish and a lovely sweet scent of Kiki soft candy.

ESSENCE Soft Contouring Lipliner
05 melt your heart and 06 under my skin
Quite surprisingly Essence decided to discontinued their lipliners which were a part of the line for probably the longest out of all their products (impressive considering they usually last no more than a year) and they switched them with these called Soft Contouring. The first version of their lipliners was very creamy and smudgy, so they really weren't my favourite even though so many people loved them, but I see these new ones as finally a massive step forward. They are now more firm and precise, so they don't move and you don't need to constantly sharpen them either, however, they are still soft and smooth enough that they can be easily applied all over the lips. I'm pretty happy with the change because now they remind me of my favourite Bourjois formula, except these are much cheaper, however, if you loved the old creamy, smudgy formula, you'll be disappointed by these. 06 under my skin is a natural mid toned peachy-pink shade that I just adore as it truly is one of the most beautiful everyday shades and it'll work with shades like Milani Darling lipstick, while 05 melt your heart is a cool toned red, but not a bright version. Staying power is still not the best, that's their only minus, but these are worth checking out, especially shade 06.

ESSENCE the Gel Nail Polish
98 pure beauty
This isn't a new shade based on my brief exploration, so I'm surprised I never noticed it before on the stand considering it's so beautiful. 98 pure beauty is a cool toned pinky-mauve nude, so one of those special looking nudes with a more modern twist. It looks beautiful on my pale skin tone, while I gave it to someone that's more tan than me and it was already looking too pale for my taste. Formula is thick and opaque, but could be easier to apply.
Müller, 1.69 €

A repurchase, not that my current bottle is empty, but I really don't like being without this, so I'm stocking up. It's just the best top coat ever. I'm not a patient woman and with this my nails are dry in a minute. It also helps even out the nail polish application if you mess up and it helps a lot against chipping. It has a bad side which is that it thickens when you use up about a half and though I have a thinner, it's not a fool proof  solution, but nothing is as good as this top coat.

Skin care

Though my initial excitement about this oil faded after I got the first full size which proved to be very different than the sample I based my purchase on, I still decided to buy it again because it works really well with my skin. It's a classic oil cleanser that emulsifies into a milky emulsion in contact with water and it removes most of the makeup, though unfortunately it falls short at mascaras. My skin is completely behaving with this, meaning no crazy stages or spots, so that's already better than at most other oils I tried, but it's not the most effective makeup remover.
DM, 12.95 €

And another repurchase - it's been a month of repurchases for me. This has become one of the most valued skin care items in my routine. Ingredients are amazing - it contains collagen, niacinamide, honey, propolis, several oils, adenosine and I hear also a mild and stable form of vitamin C, but there is also alcohol relatively high on the list, though I don't notice it. I mentioned in one of my favourites that this is a better version of Estee Lauder's ANR for me, as it works very similar, so my skin is clearer, more even, the texture is more refined, but the extra pluses of this serum are the healthy glow and improved elasticity. Though you only need a drop of product, the reason my bottle is already empty is because when I received it was opened in the parcel and over a half leaked out. At least I was refunded, but guess what, the new bottle was also opened and leaked everywhere. Does Banila have the worst product control ever, or am I just so unlucky? It's also so hard to find this product, at least in stock.
Cosmetic Love, $17.82 (took 41 days, missent to Canada and stopped at customs despite being under 22 €, meaning I had to pay 5 € for nothing again. Yay! Shopping from Korea has become so much fun).

*MIXA Soothing Moisturiser Light Pro Tolerance
Something new in the drugstores: Mixa added two moisturisers for very intolerant skin. I got the light version and there is another for dry skin, though this light version isn't very light, so those with oily skin I really don't think this is for you. It promises is doesn't irritate even the most sensitive skins and that is also soothes any irritations. My skin isn't sensitive at all, so I can't tell you for sure if those claims are right, but I do love their Micellar Water and think it's one of the best I ever had, so quality-wise this is a brand that's worth checking out. The moisturiser has a thick gel-lotion type of texture that doesn't absorb fast into the skin, instead it's like it forms this protective layer on the skin. I used this when my skin was very dry, so dry in fact, it absorbed abnormal amounts of my other skin care, but this lingered on the skin for a long time, hence why I don't find it as a good base for under makeup, but a better night moisturiser. It has no scent and the packaging has a pump.

TONYMOLY Panda's Dream White Cream
I have the sleeping pack which I really love and use it daily, but I forgot to add it to my favourites three months in a row. I had a sample of the White Cream before and I loved it, actually planned on getting it instead of the sleeping pack next time, but now I'm not so sure I will. I have a review of this already, but now I'm updating you because my skin is current drier than the first time I tried this cream. It feels too dry for me now because it leaves an almost cream-to-powder finish, so a proper matte finish and it should be wonderful on oily/combination skin. Now it almost feels chalky to me and my foundation didn't apply as smoothly over it as over the sleeping pack, also I felt that when I woke up in the morning, my lines were more intense. This has a similar effect to a sunscreen in a sense that it's a white cream that doesn't completely blend in, so in that way it brightens the skin and makes it more even. I still like it a lot, but for summer months. I got a ton of samples as a GWP on Cosmetic Love.

Yet another repurchase. I've avoided wearing sunscreens because they are all so greasy and shiny on the skin, but this is so different. Again I bought the 2015 version which is supposedly lighter than the new 2017 formulation. It's got a light formula that applies with ease, like a lotion/serum and right from the start it doesn't leave a greasy sunscreen type of filter on the skin, it's again more like a serum, which after a minute or two sets to a velvety smooth finish. You can feel it under the fingers, but otherwise it's super light, like you're not wearing anything. It's got zero white case, but it does have a bit of a shine which is more of a K-Beauty dewy shine and not greasy sunscreen one. Though it's protecting me well on normal days (no new freckles and pale foundations still fits me), I was a bit red with it once at the beach, so this is not the best for long exposures, but for a regular every day wear, it's great.
eBay, $9.89 (seller animetropolis, again arrived so fast in 9 days)

BIORE UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel SPF50+ PA++++ (2015 version)
I actually ordered the 2017 version, but I got the old one, which is completely fine, I don't mind. I got it because it's a 90 ml bottle, while essence only has 50 ml and I used it up too fast. Now after trying both I notice absolutely no difference between then once they are on the skin. Both leave that velvety primer, but dry to the touch type of finish and both work excellently as a base for makeup. The main differences between the textures are that the gel isn't a gel, but a very watery lotion and that' it's white (essence is yellow), but it again leaves no white cast. Gel smells more alcoholic, but both have a lemon cake type of scent. Both are great.
eBay, $10.99 (seller animetropolis)

ETUDE HOUSE Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF50+ PA+++
(Samples  10 pcs)
This was a sunscreen frequently mentioned as one of the lightest one, plus that is also has a nice matte finish, it's a mineral sunscreen and affordable. I only bought samples because I was just interested in what it's like, since I've stocked up on Biore. It's very liquid and light, like a serum and similarly to Biore's gel it's white. I'm very pale, so I notice no white cast, though as I said it's a classic white sunscreen that needs to be blended well. It's not greasy or suffocating, it doesn't need long to dry and I find it a lovely sunscreen. It's got a strong alcoholic orange scent, which doesn't bother me and the finish is satin with a bit of a sunscreen shine that doesn't look greasy, just healthy. It works well as a base under makeup and I've noticed no flaking.
Cosmetic Love, $1.82, full size is about 10$.

ETUDE HOUSE Black Hydrogel Eye Patch
I got this mostly because it's cute and it looks like a Catwoman mask, but I've tried Etude House's Laugh Line Patch and I find their products are quite good. I haven't used it yet, but it's a black hydrogel mask that promises a firming, brightening and moisturising effect, but I'm sure the cooling effect of the hydrogel is great for tired eyes too. When I use it, I'll have a review on Instagram Stories.
Cosmetic Love, $1.59

ETUDE HOUSE Bubble Pore Cleansing Patch
Another absolutely adorable cat themed patch. It's a bubble mask, so a spin-off of those popular bubbling face masks like from Elizavecca that promises to clear out the pores. I'll update you on stories.
Cosmetic Love, $1.27

ETUDE HOUSE 0.2 Therapy Air Mask
Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid
I got this based on recommendations, Hyaluronic acid mostly because of Adjusting Beauty, but I heard good things about these in general. The Collagen one promises to hydrate and add elasticity, while Hyaluronic Acid one promises a powerful hydrating effect. I have yet to try the Collagen one and I'll update on Stories when I do.
Hyaluronic Acid
Sheet: the sheet is only 0.2 mm thick, so it's one of those almost invisible ones, but it's also very comfortable and soft. It's a bit big for me like most sheet mask and again on the lower part, since I have a petite face.
Essence: like at most mask it's a light, toner-like essence that leaves a slight tacky layer. There's a lot of essence as is the norm at Asian masks, so I used the rest as a toner in the next days.
Scent: veeery alcoholic. Seriously, the fumes of this almost get you drunk and it's a very chemical smelling alcohol. I really wasn't a fan of it.
Effect: I expected hydration and that's what I got. It felt very hydrating and it left my skin looking nice, just in general healthy. Still that alcoholic scent makes me nervous.
Cosmetic Love, $0.64 (each)

THE SAEM Natural Skin Fit Mask (Disney Edition)
Grapefruit
I'm sure you'll be shocked to hear I got this because of the packaging as well. However, Saem is supposedly a nice brand and I'd love to try as many brands of sheet masks as I can, so I'll find the best ones so me (my faves so far are the relatively expensive and hard to get Papa Recipe, but I also love My Beauty Diary, The Face Shop and Secret Key). I saw at least two versions and this one promises to moisturise plus give skin elasticity - by the way, it exists in a non-Disney packaging as well. I'll update you on Stories.
Cosmetic Love, $0.59

BALEA Tuchmaske Born To Be Lazy
So far I've only tried Balea Vital sheet mask which was ok, but nothing special. I got this one purely based on ingredients, since they looks quite nice, with almond oil and hyaluronic acid high on the list. I wanted to see how it performs compared to Asian masks which I love and unfortunately this is one of the worst masks I've tried.
Sheet: one of the most uncomfortable sheets I've ever used. It's a combination of being too thick and too large, so I almost gave up and wanted to take it off as soon as I can.
Essence: It's got a milky essence, but there is so little of it that adherence on the skin is poor. So together with a thick sheet, very little essence and poor, large fit for me, this basically feel of my face within 10 minutes.
Scent: As I opened it I was immediately hit with very strong sour apply candy scent, which I don't mind at all, but if you're sensitive to fragrance I'm just telling you this is the strongest scented masks I've tried (comparable to Secret Key).
Effect: despite such annoying sheet material and poor essence, my skin did look presentable in the morning, softer and nourished, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. All Balea needs to do is add more essence and maybe change the sheet to one of those thin ones.

BALEA Tuchmaske mit Aktivkohle-Vlies
Sheet mask with active coal
Even though I heard from my fellow blogger Uniquapoly that this isn't that special or particularly impressive, I still wanted to give it a go due to a high salicylic acid content. It's meant for unclear skin, so not exactly suited for me, but it might come in handy when my skin freaks out. I'll update you on stories.

Body

SOAP & GLORY Smoothie Star Body Spray
I've used up a scrub from this line whose scent wasn't my favourite (maple syrup at first, but with age more like coffee), so I took a risk this smells nicer because it had very favourable reviews. It is very different, much stronger and vanilla based. I think it reminds me of  Kenzo Amour, so a mix of heavy vanilla notes with some oriental tones that make it more perfume-y rather than a gourmand, but it's also got this calming powdery type of note that makes it super cosy, like a warm blanket among scents. It's very warm and homey, basically a typical late autumn/ winter/ Christmas time type of scent, for the summer it's just way too much. Given that it's vanilla based and very strong, staying power is good, so for 5 €, you get like a proper perfume (it's a 100 ml bottle).
Boots International, £4.00

I had a travel size of this, so it's technically another repurchase this month. It has the same scent as Mist you Madly spray, which I describe as vintage smelling and very classic, like one of those designer fragrances that have been best sellers for decades, so a complete mix of notes where you can't point out anything apart from that is has everything (floral-citrusy clean). The scrubby bits are a bit less harsh than at my favourite Flake Away, as well as at Sugar Crush and Breakfast Scrub, so if you find those too much, you might like this more, plus the formula is so soft and creamy.
Boots International, £8.00

SOAP & GLORY Smoothie Star Body Buttercream
Another one from the Smoothie Star line and again it has a very different scent than both the spray and the scrub. It's a very gourmand scent, something like cake batter with the strongest note of almonds. It reminds me most of the discontinued The Body Shop Almond Body Butter, but Smoothie Star smells more edible with a mix of cocoa, almond, coconut and vanilla scent. Texture is the same as at the Righteous Butter, so a bit less firm as Orangeasm and lighter than most The Body Shop or Balea butters. It's nice for dry skin, but it takes some time to sink in.
Boots International, £10.00

LIBRARY OF FRAGRANCE Gingerbread
Eau de Toilette
Instantly recognisable to anyone I've sprayed this on, though their response was more often that it smells like Christmas potica (Slovene thing) instead of gingerbread. Most prominent note is the cinnamon in an very cookie-like variety, so it's pretty much like the proper thing. Some might say it smells artificial, but if you ever smelled cinnamon powder, you'll recognise that somewhat bitter note at the end, though I rarely notice it at this fragrance and it's basically just cinnamon cookies all the time. I really recommend this if you're looking for a Christmas scent. Such a shame we don't have this brand in our drugstores, by the way in the US this brand is called Demeter Fragrances. I have one more scent called Sunshine.
Boots International, £15.00

LIBRARY OF FRAGRANCE Baby Powder
Eau de Toilette
This smells like you'd expected, so like baby cosmetics. It's pleasantly powdery, cosy and comforting, it's about the same scent as DM's Baby Love line or at least its smell from 10 years ago, since I haven't bought anything from that brand in a long time. The longer I wear it the more I detect a very similar almond note that L'Occitane's Almond Shower Oil has. Staying power is average, but it is very noticeable for the first couple of hours. These leave an oily feeling on the skin.
Boots International, £15.00

BALEA Duschschaum
Fresh & Fruity
Since I liked the Bilou version so much, I wanted to see if Balea's similar and it turns out that they do indeed have a very similar texture, so a lovely firm foam that's just a pleasure to use. Several versions exist (I know of four) and this one has a lovely fresh lime scent. Very likeable.
DM, 1.49 €

BALEA Handlotion
Pitaya Coco
Lana send this to me, though I've been checking it myself in DM and I got the liquid soap in this scent. It's not at all what you'd expect in terms of scent, you don't get neither coconut not pitaya and it's very far from being tropical. In fact it smells like a laundry detergent, in general just very clean. As the same suggests it's a lotion, so a light textured product and it absorbs in a few minutes.
DM, 1.45 €

MITCHUM Advanced Control Anti-Perspirant Stick
Powder Fresh
I heard that Mitchum is a reliable brand when it comes to deodorants and it had a discount, so I picked one for myself. I've been trying to get on with it for a month, but I simply don't like this. It's so dry and hard, so not easy to apply. It leaves white marks and the smell is extra granny-ish, so obnoxiously musty powdery. But I could get over all that if it actually worked well. Unfortunately it isn't the most reliable anti-perspirant and it has let me down more than once.
Boots International, £2.00

Hair

DOVE  Advanced Hair Series Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask
The Creme Serum from this line is one of my favourite hair products ever, so I got the mask as well. It's ok, not outstanding, but good for a drugstore brand. My hair is very dry and thick, so I wanted it to be just a bit more hydrating and nourishing, though my hair looked nice and could be combed with ease. The main issue for me was as at all drugstore masks/conditioners/treatments that effect don't last long enough and my hair was dry within two days. Considering how fantastic the serum is, I'm disappointed by this, since my expectations were high, though of course I'll use all of it regardless, just with extra leave-in conditioner and I think that most with moderately dry hair will like it.
Boots International, £7.75

I talked about these in my last New in and favourites, so I won't say much, other that it's the best thing I found for my dry, rebellious hair and that this is the third bottle I stocked up on because now that Boots International is gone, I won't be able to buy it anywhere else.
Boots International, £7.75

The last repurchase here. I call this healthy, shiny hair faker in a can. It's basically a silicone-oil in spray form that tames the hair and gives it amazing shine, so this it that final touch or a fixer when the hair looks too frizzy and bland. I've tried other such oil-in-spray type of products, but nothing is this good. This is super light and even those with hair that gets greasy fast can use it.
Boots International, £3.00

L'OREAL Elvive Extraordinary Oil Curl Nourishement Cleansing Conditioner
The only Cleasing Conditioner I tried before was from Kérastase which is really good, so I wasn't sure I'd be impressed by cheaper versions. We have L'Oreal cleansing conditioners here, but we don't have this version which is made specifically for very dry, curly hair, they market it as for afro hair which is notoriously very dry and requires a lot of care. My hair needs a lot too and most drugstore products marked for dry hair just aren't enough, this, however, sounded very promising. So far I'm impressed. It's like a normal conditioner, so it doesn't foam, but it cleaned my hair well (not my scalp though, but I have dandruff that's why) and even as I was rinsing it off, my hair felt silky, something that only rare drugstore conditioners do for me. It left my hair very light, with no residue and at the same time nourished. I used nothing else when I tested it and my hair dried somewhat unruly and frizzy, so I will absolutely need to combine it with Sexy Healthy Hair leave-in conditioner and Dove Creme Serum for frizz control, but unlike at most drugstore conditioners, at this my hair didn't get dry the second day after wash, so I'm very much liking this. It's also so much faster than my regular shampoo-conditioner routine.
Boots International, £6.99

L'OREAL Elvital Öl Magique Low Shampoo
I loved the Curl Nourishment so much that I immediately got scared what am I going to do when it runs out, since that version is not sold in Slovenia, so I bought this one to compare. They work the same, they both leave my hair nourished and silky, however, with this my hair was already very dry on the second day (I didn't use any extra care to I properly test these). So I don't find this one as impressive as the one with the purple pump, but it's still a nice cleansing conditioner that those with normal to moderately dry hair will like. I can't say that those with oily hair will like it too, but it doesn't leave any residue and my hair felt light after use. Though the bottle is quite big, 400 ml, I can't see these lasting long because I need a lot of pumps for my thick, lower back length hair. They have a special version for coloured hair, but all versions will work great for coloured hair because these aren't any sulphates in these and they don't strip colour as much as regular shampoos.

I currently have two mascaras I use interchangeably, this one and the hyped-up Lash Extatic (European Lash Paradise) and I have to say I prefer Volume Stylist. There are several reasons why I like it more, but the most important one right now is that even though they were bought at about the same time just two months ago, Lash Extatic is running on fumes. I just can't believe it's so dry so fast. I also think that Essence mascara is more dramatic, more volumizing and creates bigger lashes. It's got a formula that behaves similar to a waterproof one, so it's more difficult to remove and that's the only thing why I still bother with L'Oreal's mascara, but Volume Stylist performs better at holding a curl (though nothing compared to a proper waterproof mascara). So far it's the cheapest regular mascara I like.

I wasn't a fan of the previous Essence lipliners though I'm a fan of their longlasting version and now they finally made decent regular liners too. They are more waxy, therefore less smudgy and finally precise. They remind me of Bourjois Contour Edition, except that these are cheap as chips. In particular I fell in love with the shade 06, a medium muted peachy-pink that fits a lot of my shades, but it looks fantastic all over the lips too. Staying power is still not the best, but improved from the original.

I can't believe this is in my favourites, but I have to put it here because I've been using it almost every day since I got it a couple of months ago. I admit I'm not a fan of this brand, there's just something about it that rubs me the wrong way and I'm still strongly opposed to the whole extra shiny look that's been polluting my social media feeds (mostly by American drugstore brands), so I can hardly believe I fell for it myself. This is the strongest highlighter than own - seriously Mary-Lou looks like a kindergartner compared to this, but it just looks so pretty on the cheeks and it's got finely milled shimmer, instead of glittery chunks. However, I only use the yellow and red stripe and with a very fluffy brush, otherwise it's just too much. I don't like it mixed all together, it just ends up looking too strong, cool and somewhat green tinted.

ESSENCE the Gel Nail Polish
98 pure beauty
The name fits it beautifully. Pure beauty is a beautiful nude, a simple and wearable shade for every occasion and it has a tendency to look either cool or warm on my nails depending on the light. It's been on my nails since the day I got it a couple of weeks ago. Formula is thick and not the easiest to apply, but it's an properly opaque nude.

I forgot to put this here three months in a row. I'd do my pictures and then realise I didn't include this, but its time in the spotlight finally arrived. I use this pretty much every day both as a base for a makeup and as a part of my skin care routine. It's a light gel-cream type of moisturiser, a classic texture for combination skin and I notice a difference when I don't use this before doing my makeup. My makeup applies nicely over it, the skin looks fresh and foundations fade nice with it, meaning it provides enough hydration though the day. It leaves kind of a soft velvet type of finish on the skin, which is why it works so well because it's almost like a hydrating primer (it's got silicones). It's meant as a sleeping pack, so you should be applying it liberally before going to bed, but I like to use it just as a regular moisturiser, since it's so light. This just really works so well for my skin, so I'm sure it's also a contributing factor in its general improvement and the packaging is just an extra plus. I saw this being sold in Sephora, but I ordered it online.

I didn't end up wearing this that much, since it's been rainy and miserable most of the month, so I stayed indoors, but I still included it here just to say that I like it as much as the Watery Essence and that they both feel the same on the skin. These dry fast and leave a dry-to-the-touch velvet primer like feeling, so they work great under makeup. The bottle has 90 ml, while Essence's tube has only 50 ml, so this is a much better deal, since they both cost about the same on eBay.

Baby Powder, Gingerbread and Sunshine
Such a shame we don't have these here. Library of Fragrance or Demeter Fragrances, as it's called in the US, have massive collection of unique scent and I have three of them, though I'd love to have more. Gingerbread is the perfect Christmas scent or just a scent you put on when you want people to think you've been baking all day because this genuinely smells like baked goods. It's mostly cinnamon, but overall it smells like cookies. Baby powder is just as you'd expect a baby cosmetic/powder scent, I recognise it as typical Baby Love by Balea scent. The last I own is Sunshine which smells like clean laundry, but warmer, like it has been drying in the sun. All have noticeable scents, but not particularly good staying power, however you can combine them with other scents, for example Gingerbread works really well with Soap & Glory Smoothie Star which is mostly vanilla based.

BALEA Duschschaum
Fresh & Fruity
I'll be first to admit I didn't have much faith Balea is capable of making a good shower foam in a can, but I'm glad I was proven wrong. The foam is thick and luxurious, it's actually similar to shaving creams and it's the same as at Bilou. There are several scents, mostly sweet, but I got the refreshing lime-smelling one.

L'OREAL Elvive Extraordinary Oil Curl Nourishement Cleansing Conditioner
This is surprisingly good. I'm a fan of L'Oreal hair care, but I was not so sure this would be as nice as I hoped, but I got the version that's marketed towards curly hair, more specifically for afro hair which tends to be much drier than other types of hair, so L'Oreal had to put a proper effort to create a truly nourishing product. My hair is very dry, especially the top layers have this thick, coarse texture, so I set my expectations very high when it comes to hair products and this definitely impressed me. It's like a normal conditioner that you apply on wet hair, gently massage all over and wash off. I tend to leave it on for a few minutes like a regular conditioner, but you don't have to do that. This is one of the rare drugstore products that leave my hair feeling silky when I'm rinsing it off. My hair is light and airy, but at the same time nourished enough. The only thing is that it doesn't tame the hair well enough, so I need to resort to my leave-ins, but I somewhat expected that. I bought the other gold version here in Slovenia (this one is from Boots), but it's less nourishing and my hair dried fast in the next days, otherwise it works about the same. I'm still surprised drugstores have such a great cleansing conditioner.

I have searched high and low, but nothing is a good as this. It's a silicone-oil in spray form that tames the hair and gives it amazing shine, so this it that final touch or a fixer when the hair looks too frizzy and bland. Other products make the hair wet because they don't have enough oil or silicones in it, so they can't help with frizz as much as this. Why did they have to pull this out of Müller?

Have a great day!

L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara

$
0
0

Lash Paradise, the US version of this mascara, is surrounded by a massive hype, but as far as I can see on social media, Paradise Extatic is on its way to a similar success. The tube of the European version isn't nearly as beautiful to me as the US pink one, which is either unintentionally or intentionally similar to Too Faced mascara, the latter is also often mentioned as a dupe. I guess they decided to follow the rose gold trend and at least to me kind of failed, since it just looks rosy brown due to a matte effect (a completely rose gold metal look mascara - now that would be something). I bought mine the moment it reached Boots International, so I opted not to wait for it to reach our drugstores, since I assumed my wait would be a long one. It's now already sold in Slovenia, but it's more expensive than what I paid, I think the price is 14 € or somewhere in the ballpark. I've had mine for about two months now, I got it at the end of July, so it's been thoroughly tested, in fact it's already almost dry and I probably won't even get to use it much anymore.

Lash Extatic is a great mascara, it's definitely one of the best I've tried in general. It adds length, enough volume and because the formula is creamy, it defines my lashes as well. The brush contributes to that too and it's very easy to create fanned out lashes with a nice amount of volume. Paradise is a classic all-in-one mascara to me and it delivers, plus it's a top performer from the moment you open it, so there no wait for it to either thicken or dry up a bit. However, I had precisely such mascaras before and they weren't as hyped up. Beyu Lash Queen Volume, Max Factor Voluptious False Lash, Lancome Hypnose, Essence I <3 Extreme Volume waterproof and Essence Volume Stylist all perform the same or better on my lashes. In terms of how it works with my lashes that refuse to stay curled (note on the with/without picture how straight they are) - if I use it without a lash curler, it manages to lift lashes about half way. It's pretty good in that respect, but it not as good in terms of holding them there and they do drop in time. I haven't had any smudging from it despite the fact I was wearing it in the summer, which at least here was quite hot and it also doesn't flake, though there might be a tiny fleck or two at the end of the day.

Comparison of with and without mascara on my lashes. I did some curling, but this mascara isn't capable of holding the curled lashes in place as good as waterproof mascaras, so they already dropped a bit.

Mascara on both eyes:

The brush is very standard for mascaras, just a regular wand with no specific shape. It gets messy on the tip a lot due to creamy formula and then the neck gets mess too, so I'm not a fan of that because I feel I'm losing formula.

And now we get to the minus and to me it's a pretty big minus considering this is not the cheapest drugstore mascara. Two months in it's dry. I can still get some of it, but by now it's not building up on the lashes anymore, it's more just tinting them and giving them definition. Compared to Essence's Volume Stylist, it's dry and I got L'Oreal's a week or so later (I used both interchangeably in these two months). I find that part disappointing and it's probably going to be a reason why I won't repurchase it. I'm used to having a mascara for 6 months and just about every other one was functioning for that time period.

So worth the hype or not? If you have naturally nice lashes like me, not really because you'll get the same or better effect with an Essence, Max Factor of a Beyu mascara, but if you still haven't found the one, maybe it's worth a try. A lot of people rave about and it is a good mascara, just it's not all that for me. The fact it got dry so fast doesn't make me happy, especially since even online it wasn't that cheap. I also wish our version was pink as well, it would be much prettier.

I bought mine on Boots for £9.99

Have a great day!

Catrice Liquid Liner

I've just repurchased this liner which makes it one of only two that I bought again and I've tried a lot of liners (you can see all in this post), so this is quite a big deal for me. I use eyeliner every day, but I'm very picky and always find a fault in each, so I move on to a completely different one when they dry out. I could already say that I found "the one" if it weren't by Catrice, which means it has about one in a million chance it'll actually stay in the regular line for the next couple of years (man, do they love to discontinue stuff, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for this liner). This is actually my first "dip it type" liquid eyeliner in a really long time, as I've been staying away from them in favour of pen eyeliners and the reason is because a great proportion of liquid eyeliners have either an annoying flimsy brush for an applicator or some other weird shape, but this one actually has a decent applicator.

This has a felt tip applicator that's similar to those at pen liners. I've had a few dip liquid liners from Essence and they either had a very scratchy hard stick or a regular brush, which put me off these liners, but this Catrice version's is quite lovely. It's soft enough, but not too flexible that it'll be difficult to control. It's a bit larger than I'd wish to, so I end up with a bit bulkier lines that I've worn in the past and I can't do a baby wing, but it's still fine. The applicator tends to fray as it ages, but I was able to just pull off those stray pieces and it was fine.

Formula is very black, blacker and more intense than at any pen eyeliner I've tried. You get plenty of colour with one dip for both eyes and you don't get any gaps. It's very liquid from the start and needs time to dry, so you need to be careful not to open the eyes too wide causing the liner to transfer to the crease. Once this dries it has a perfect matte finish.

Colourpop Lumiere on the lips.

Staying power of this is very good, though a lot of liners stay well on my lids because they aren't oily. On occasion a wing will fade a bit and I had some flaking, but mostly it looks pretty good. It can easily stay for all day if I don't rub my eyes.

My first tube lasted me four months. It's still got colour, but there's not enough liquid in it anymore, meaning I can't do such sharp lines anymore. I expected it to last longer, despite the fact I've been using it every day, but I thought it'll last at for a least two months more like some pen liners can (L'Oreal's Superstar) and I was 100% sure it will outlast pen eyeliners by a mile, but I can deal with the fact it gets drier faster than expected, since it's affordable.

The packaging is very simple, nothing fancy and the cap is long enough that it's easy to hold.

I bought it in Müller for 3.79 €.

TL;DR version: a great affordable liquid liner that's intensely black and has a completely matte finish. It has a felt tip applicator like most pen liners and it lasts great on the lids. Recommended.

Have a great day!

One of my favourite mascaras and one I was going to repurchase until I saw the price and then moved swiftly towards the Essence stand. But I still miss it. It's an all-in-one mascara, so gives me volume, length, it defines ok, manages to keep my lashes semi-lifted, so I actually look like I have lashes and it's easy to remove. It's just a great mascara.
Repurchase: Yes, when I come to terms that if I want a nice mascara again, I'll have to pay 12 €.

This was my second tube despite the even higher price tag than Beyu (why do drugstore mascaras have to be so expensive?! 7 € is the limit in my opinion). It's another all-in-one mascara with a very similar effect as Beyu, it's just a bit more defining due to the plastic brush. Usually such mascaras don't give much volume, but this truly great at creating big voluminous lashes. However, the other reason apart from the price as to why I opted not to repurchase it is that the brush isn't comfortable and it's scratchy.
Repurchase: Yes, though I prefer Beyu's because of the comfortable brush.

This lasted four months of everyday use which isn't nearly as much as I expected (I wanted at least 6 months), but it's still so far my favourite liner, so I repurchased it. The formula is super black and very matte, it lasts all day with no smudging, flaking - it just lasts. The applicator is very similar to pen liners and that's what I've been looking for, a felt tip that's comfortable, flexible enough, but not flimsy like a brush. It's not quite as precise as I'd want, but I can deal with that.
Repurchase: Done.

This was my second tube and even though I was saving it as crazy because it's one of my favourite concealers, I was again caught off guard when I realised it's empty. I used it maybe ten times, I'm sure it wasn't much more, but this has only 1.5 ml of product, so I really shouldn't be surprised. Anyway, it doesn't matter because I found Radiance Reveal which looks the same on the skin, so a medium coverage concealer with a beautiful invisible finish. The shade of CC is better because it's lighter, but 1.5 ml for 7 or 8 € is one of the biggest rip offs in history.
Repurchase: No, or only if I can't find Radiance Reveal anymore.

A thick, slippery gel that doesn't foam much and has a strong masculine clean fragrance. It cleans well and has a pH 5.5, so I use it as my second cleanser after oil. I'm glad I found such a nice, very inexpensive cleanser.
Repurchase: Already done.

I already repurchased this even though I find the texture thin and it also doesn't remove all the makeup completely (panda eyes everytime). It works well with my skin, doesn't cause me any problems and that's not so easy to find, since oil usually clog my pores. I can get in my nearest drugstore, it's just expensive for 150 ml that gets used up fast. I have to praise that their pump works to the end, so you get the last little bit out.
Repurchase: Done.

This has become one of the most valued skin care items in my routine. Ingredients are amazing and I mentioned in one of my favourites that this is a better version of Estee Lauder's ANR for me, since it works very similar, so my skin is clearer, more even, the texture is more refined, but the extra pluses of this serum are the healthy glow and improved elasticity. Getting the last drops out proved to be challenging and I had to forgo the use of pipette for the last two weeks of use.
Repurchase: Done.

So far my favourite sunscreen, especially for every day when my sun exposure is limited and I don't want any type of heavy, greasy product on your skin. I've got the gel as well and both are the same on the skin, so very light, they dry in about a minute or two to a velvet finish, but they have some sunscreen shine. You can apply a lot, so at this one you can actually apply the recommended amount. It's got a high alcohol content which is less noticeable than at gel, but at gel you get 40 ml more for about the same price.
Repurchase: Done.

These were a waste of time. You get three pairs of pads and I've used them first on my smiles lines since they promise to make lines less visible, but they did nothing. Under the eyes they didn't do much more, my eyes didn't look more rested, depuffed, nor did they help with my dark circles. It liked that the hydrogel was like at Korean skin care and these are nice when your eyes are tired because it's pleasantly cooling and refreshing, but the product just wasn't that effective.
Repurchase: No.

With lotus flower extract & rice water
A less luxuriously creamy version of Dove shower gel than I'm used to, but nonetheless one of the better ones you can get in drugstores. It smells very lovely, milky-creamy flowery clean.
Repurchase: Yes.

I enjoyed this a lot. It's a classic sugar scrub, so one of those harsh ones I like and it has a mineral oil base, so it's a bit oily, though it washes off completely. The scent was fruity, but neither definitively peachy or like mango, still it was nice.
Repurchase: Likely.

I still adore this as the first day I tried it. I love it's proper vineyard peach scent, but it's also the quality of the butter that's impressive. I saved this one like crazy because TBS isn't sold here, but I hear that's about to change. I so buying body butters first because I love them.
Repurchase: Yes.

As ripped-off as I felt when I first saw this because it is just a glorified sugar scrub (yes, like those for the body), this was actually nice and it worked. It both removed flakes/dandruff that's always stuck on my scalp, but it also does what it claims - makes the hair more voluminous and airy due to truly purifying it. And because it's not made of harsh soaps, it's also not terribly drying, plus sugar melts, so unlike some other scrubs I tried, it washed off completely. But it is just sugar and glycerine, so I made the next one myself, however, if you're one of those super lazy people who can't be bothered to whip up something in the kitchen in 5 minutes, instead rather pay 10 € for a ready-made stuff (I know such people), then go for it.
Repurchase: No.

I've been using this for years as an occasional intensive treatment when my hair is very dry. It's like regular coconut oil and other oils, so I use it as a pre-wash treatment, except I think this is the best and most intensive one I found. I apply it usually overnight or if I don't have the time for at least 30 minutes in a very thick coat, including the scalp and it washes off completely from my dry, thick hair (don't used this on thin, oily hair), I use my normal moisturising care and then my hair is like reborn. The pump is stupid, that's the only this I don't like, but otherwise it's great.
Repurchase: Already done.

This and the coconut version are so far my favourite hairsprays. It provides good hold, but without making the hair sticky, crunchy or stiff, it's actually almost invisible on the hair. The scent is strong like at all hairsprays and it's got a very oriental, Angel-like scent that's a mix of heavy notes (chocolate, patchouli, amber, vanilla,… just everything).
Repurchase: Yes, I currently have the coconut one which is the same.

One of the least comfortable masks I've tried. The sheet is thick and there's very little essence so it doesn't even stick well on the skin. Overall it left my skin softer and sufficiently nourished, it also looked nice. It's heavily scented with a sour apple candy scent.
Repurchase: No.

BANOBAGI Vita Genic Anti-Wrinkle & Whitening Jelly Facial Mask
Vitamin C - whitening
This has one of the most comfortable sheets and essences out of all mask I've tried and you are also left with a ton of essence (at least 15 ml) that you can use on the following days as a serum. I didn't notice that big of a difference on my lines as at Vitamin A, but this one was meant for brightening and it did its job. However, it just wasn't that special compared to other brightening/whitening mask. This dries so sticky that it's appropriate only as a treatment before going to bed, unless you plan to wash it off. I'm thinking that this one might be nice to use as a treatment plan, so one every few days because ingredients are lovely and might have a better effect long term. It didn't break me out like vitamin A.
Repurchase: Yes.

The scent of this makes you think you're applying a cloth soaked in schnapps, but it hydrated my skin and left it looking nice.
Repurchase: I liked the effect, but the alcohol makes me nervous. I don't know.
Collagen
This has a lovely and super comfortable milky essence that needs more time to absorb than most other sheet masks I've tried. Effects were nothing special, just nourished skin, so like I used a regular moisturiser.
Repurchase: It's nothing special, but I don't know.

MY SCHEMING Invisible Mask Series Moisturizing Facial Mask
L-Ascorbic Acid Whitening
This one burned slightly - a strange sensation considering my skin is very far from sensitive. It left my skin a bit more even, a bit smoother, but I'd say the biggest difference was in that it was a lot more matte than usual. It's one of the mask that I'd say would be nice for oily skin.
Repurchase: No.

So far my favourite sheet mask. It evens out the skin, brightens, nourishes, makes the skin soft and just in general makes it look very healthy. The honey scent is another plus.
Repurchase: Yes.

PAPA RECIPE Bombee Black Honey Mask Pack
Least enjoyable of the Bombee masks due to a strange paper material sheet, but it works the same as original, so nourishes the skin, makes it softer and looking healthier.
Repurchase: I prefer other versions.

PAPA RECIPE Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask Pack
Another one with a more rigid paper, but this one also has a more oily essence and a strong oriental, "angel-like" scent. It does the same as other Bombees and nothing more.
Repurchase: I prefer other versions.

I used up the second one I had, so I already have a proper review about this. It's one of my favourites despite the stiff hydrogel, though I didn't notice such a great improvement on my smiles lines the second time I used it, but my skin looked nice after use. It's very heavily scented.
Repurchase: Yes.

This was also the second one I used and it's the  most nourishing mask I had, so I used it when my skin was very dry. The essence is deceptively light from the start, but then it dries to an oily type of filter, so it lasts longer on the skin. Besides being cute, it also smells amazingly like honey.
Repurchase: Yes, but it's LE and I'm more temped by the brightening Charmander version.

Also one I had a few packs off and it still remains one of my favourites. It brightens, makes the skin softer, nourished and just makes it look so healthy. The Face Shop Solution Pearl is pretty much the same thing if you can't find this one, since it's a limited edition.
Repurchase: Yes.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink

There was so much hype about these and actually there still is, since I've seen how many people praise them on social media. But I was quite let down the first time I tried them and didn't get the hype at all. My opinion changed since those first impressions, I guess I just needed to get used to a different formula and I'm most impressed by the staying power, however, I've tried a lot of matte liquid lipsticks formulas, about fifteen I think, and these are somewhere in the middle.

Texture: Most lip creams I've tried are quite light and either oily (Sleek), creamy (theBalm) or a mousse (Bourjois), but these are thick, so my first applications were not that nice, especially with Pioneer, but I've learned to work with these. There are differences in the formulas between the shades, but both start to dry and become sticky fast, so I need to be quick at application. I apply it first on the bottom lip, then press my lips together and finish by applying what's left on the applicator, making the application more even. After a month of owning these, I'm completely adjusted to the formula and I don't find them as fussy anymore, but this is by far the stickiest lip cream I tried. There are some other sticky formulas, but this one takes the cake, so I'm really not a fan of that, however, I can deal with it. It's not a lip gloss type of stickiness where hair would stick on your lips. What I mean by stickiness is that when you press your lips together they just stick like glue. A proper fully opaque application needs about 10 minutes to dry, though even after that it can transfer in traces. It sticks like a glue to the lips, so alongside with the stickiness that lasts about a half an hour and a thick formula, these tend to feel heavy on the lips at first - again it's something I got used to and don't notice it as much. Same as the stickiness, that feeling disappears after a half an hour. On my lips these are never drying and I find them a comfortable product all day. The red shade, Pioneer, can smudge a bit, so I need to be a bit more careful, but with Lover I'm completely relaxed. Don't ask me if these are for dry lips because I can't tell you, all I can say is they wear nice on my lips. I heard a lot of people say that these aren't drying to them, however, my gut feeling tells me these might feel tight to some.

Finish: They are named Matte Ink, which I would imagine as a matte stain type of product, but these are fully opaque with a satin-matte finish. It's not that Instagram matte look you get at Milani, Colourpop Matte and Sleek, but it sets more matte in time. This could mean the formula will be more comfortable to those who hate quick drying matte finishes and any of the before mentioned formulas.

15 Lover

Lover is mauve shade, so a mix of muted pink with purple and it looks warm on me when freshly applied, however it turns much cooler and more towards violet with time. Yesterday I ended up with a purple shade at the end of the day. I like the look of it in the first couple of hours, but as the day goes by, I just think it turns a bit too cool for me. Such shades often oxidise and change colour, but they usually turn darker, while this one goes lighter. It much smoother and even than Pioneer, in fact I have almost no problems with this one apart from stickiness.

20 Pioneer

Pioneer is a cool toned red, pretty much my perfect red and while it is in the same colour family as L'Oreal's Blake, it's even more intense and cooler - I think it's the best red I own. It's a much more difficult shade to apply than Lover, which is due to a combination of thickness and stickiness, so I never manage to create a nice edge with it and need to fix it with a lipliner (I use Catrice's …and a Cherry on the Top).

Staying power: These are some of the most long-lasting lip products I've tried, but it differs between the shades, since as usually reds last longer than other shades. Both Lover and Pioneer are impossible to remove with a tissue or micellar water, only oil breaks them apart. They can last though drinking, meals, holding your hand annoyingly over the lips while behind the computer - truly there is little that touches them, basically only contact with (a lot of) oil will get them. I ate a greasy grilled cheese sandwich and while the lip colour did break down, it still didn't look that terrible, just a bit uneven. Yesterday I wore Lover all day and it lasted 12h pretty much intact, it just changed colour as I said before. When you cleanse you need to focus on the lips with the oil cleanser, otherwise you'll end up with leftover lipstick. The red one stains because it has that typical magenta pigment in it which is very difficult remove at almost any formula.

Scent: They are very heavily scented with a coconut-like scent. It's only noticeable at application.

Packaging: An opaque tube with a spade shaped doe foot applicator which has a hollow in the middle. That hollow is actually quite annoying because it holds too much product and makes it more difficult to apply evenly. These aren't the prettiest tubes to me, but a lot of people like them.

Price and availability: I bought mine in DM for 7.99 €. They are 50 cents more expensive in Müller.

Now for all of those who just scroll to the end: these are super long-lasting matte liquid lipsticks that survive a lot and are at the same time not typically tight/drying on the lips, however, these are thick and sticky and not as easy to apply as others. They don't beat theBalm for me, neither Sephora's or Milani's, mostly due to stickiness, though I admire their staying power and shade Pioneer is one of the most gorgeous reds I've ever seen.

Have a great day!

Max Factor Honey Lacquer Honey Rose

Max Factor's been doing some pretty interesting launches recently, currently it's all about the Healthy Skin Harmony foundation, but before that Honey Lacquers were the centre of attention. Admittedly I'm not a fan of glossy lips, but this one is one of those that's balmy and comfortable, so on me it works as a lip balm substitute. These might be the most glamourous looking lip glosses in the drugstore, so they get my thumbs up for that.

Texture: As you'd expected from the name this is a lip gloss-lipstick hybrid, so a very pigmented gloss that's close to full coverage. Compared to some others like Rimmel's Apocalips and L'Oreal's Lip Paints this isn't quite as pigmented, but light shades usually differ in pigmentation to the darker ones. Formula is comfortable, it doesn't move a lot, it isn't sticky at all and stays nicely even with time. Finish is shiny, or better said creamy-shiny and like at all such products the shine starts to fade fast, but a small level of shine lasts to the end. Formula reminds me of their old Silky Glosses in terms of application, wear and comfort, but these are a big step up in terms of pigmentation.

Colour: Honey Rose is the lightest shade in the range and it's a pale cool toned pink that would be a best seller in the late 00's. I find it's a very difficult shade to pull off because it's so pale and so cool, but it might work over a darker lipstick. I'd actually pick a different shade for myself, I love the look of Honey Nude which is a more natural looking nude shade.

Scent: The scent is exactly the same as at their Silky glosses, so a vanilla type of scent, but it's not a gourmand type neither the synthetic/car freshener type.

Staying power: I didn't expect much given that it's such a pale shade, but this manages to stick on the lips for several hours. It won't look like freshly applied and glossy, but the colour is still there.

Packaging: The stand out feature of this product is the packaging. The formula is nothing special in terms of what else is on the market, but such a pretty packaging is rare in the drugstore. Gold details make it stand out among the crowd. The doe foot applicator is a classic one and easy to use.

These cost 9.49 € in drugstores. We have six colours in Slovenia that range from nudes to some darker red and violet shades.

Have a great day!

Essence the Gel Nail Polish 98 pure beauty

$
0
0

Pure Beauty is a nude shade that on my neutral skin tone tends to look a cool pinky nude or a warm pinky nude depending on the light, however, in the bottle it's unmistakably a cool shade. It's one of those shades that looks elegant and is suited for every occasion, though I lend it to someone more tan than me and it already looked too pale (I'm NC/W 10, she is NC25). I wore this for a month straight since I got it, it's just such an easy shade to wear and it has great staying power when I combine it with Seche Vite.

Formula is like at all pastel shades among Essence's  gel nail polishes, thick and very opaque. It's not easy to apply, though nudes are often difficult anyway, but it ends up even with two coats.

I got mine in Müller for 1.69 €.

Sheet Masks: Balea, Banobagi, Etude House, Esfolio & Lovemore

BALEA Tuchmaske
Available in DM for 0.99 €

Aqua
Based on what I see on blogs and Instagram this is the most recommended of Balea masks. It's a part of Balea's Aqua line designed for dehydrated skin and it's made in South Korea like the rest of Balea masks.
Sheet: Apart from the black mask, all Balea's sheets are thick as a blanket, rigid and very annoying when on the face. You're constantly aware of it, it absorbs most of the essence and even though the size isn't that big, it doesn't fold that nicely. I just really dislike the sheet material, it ruins the while experience.
Essence: Is like a serum consistency. It absorbs/dries fast, but it leaves a layer behind, which later disappears
Scent: Clean, but sharp. Overall the scent is nothing special.
Effect: It gave the skin a hydration boost, so it leaves the skin looking more fresh, but that's it - to be fair it doesn't promise more anyway. It doesn't have that temporary "omg my skin looks so good" effect that Asian masks have, probably because it doesn't contain any of the brightening ingredients. If it weren't for the annoying sheet material, I'd say this is an ok mask for some quick hydration, but I won't buy it again. I didn't notice any burning as some others did.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? Only if I'd be desperate for any sheet mask, but it doesn't compare to Asian masks.

 Tuchmaske mit Aktivkohle-Vlies
Sheet mask with active coal
I got this due to a high content of salicylic acid. It's meant for blemish-prone skin, so I used it when my skin wasn't having its best days.
Sheet and fit: I didn't expect the sheet to be so nice, especially considering how bad Aqua and Born to be Lazy is. It's comfortable and sits nicely on the skin, it's not even that large and folds nicely. As the packaging indicates it's black.  It's got eye flaps like all Balea masks, which are useless here, since I don't want this essence near my eyes.
Essence: in all Balea masks there's very little of liquid compared to Asian masks and it's enough only for the mask to be relatively soaked. But it's a lot better than Born to be Lazy and it sticks nicely on the skin. Essence is light, like a toner and it absorbs quickly.
Scent: it's got a pleasant medicinal scent.
Effect: None to speak off. I used it when I had a few spots, but this didn't help to diminish them or accelerated healing. It also didn't do anything for the look of pores or blackheads. After I took it off, my skin started to feel tight and it was matte, but that's it. It's the closest one to Asian versions in terms of material of the sheet and how comfortable it feels, but in terms of effects, it's nowhere near.
Ingredients:here.
Worth it? No.

Born To Be Lazy (LE)
As cute as the packaging is, I actually wasn't drawn to it, but I got this one purely based on ingredients, since they look quite nice with almond oil and hyaluronic acid high on the list.
Sheet: the same as at Aqua - one of the most uncomfortable sheets I've tried. It's a combination of being too thick and too large, so I almost gave up and wanted to take it off as soon as I can.
Essence: It's got a milky essence, but there is so little of it that adherence on the skin is poor. So together with a thick sheet, very little essence and poor, large fit for me, this basically feel off my face within 10 minutes.
Scent: As I opened it I was immediately hit with very strong sour apply candy scent, which I don't mind at all, but if you're sensitive to fragrance I'm just telling you this is the strongest scented masks I've tried (comparable to Secret Key).
Effect: despite such annoying sheet material and poor essence, my skin did look presentable in the morning softer and nourished, so it wasn't a complete waste of time. All Balea needs to do is add more essence and change the sheet to one of those thin ones.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? No, until they change the sheet and add more essence.

BANOBAGI Vita Genic Anti-Wrinkle & Whitening Jelly Facial Mask
eBay (seller house_of_fashion.2013), $2.69

Vitamin A- lifting
Sheet & Fit: it's a 100% cotton sheet and one of those thin ones that are very comfortable, also almost invisible on the skin when wet. The sheet is a bit large, but since it's thin, it's easy to make it fit well. It's very soaked with essence and it drips when you're unfolding it.
Essence: such a wonderful essence at this one. It's clear, but it feels like a comforting lotion. When I took the mask off, I could constantly feel it on the skin and it was very tacky, so this is definitely a mask you should use before going to bed, or even rinse it off. These is a ton of essence left in the pack, more than at any other I've seen. You could easily transfer it and use it as a serum.
Scent: it's one of the more heavily fragranced. The scent is not one of those that's easy to compare to something, but it's almost fruity, yet mostly chemical.
Effect: this has one of the best effects on my nasolabial folds. On one side it virtually disappeared by the morning, and the other was barely visible. Even during the day, they didn't become as obvious as the usually do. But in terms of other effects, I found this one lacking, as there was nothing more than deeply moisturising, so no additional brightening, evening of the skin or softness. I will repurchase this one, though I suspect it's breaking me out a bit because I've been using the extra essence just on my area around the lips and it's where I got a few spots.
Ingredients:here
Worth it? Yes.

Vitamin C - brightening
Fit & Sheet: Sheet is the same as at Vitamin A .
Essence: Again it's similar to the one at A. It feels so comfortable when you're touching the sheet, it's just an incredible feeling. It's sticky as it dries.
Scent: This one has chemical scent, almost slightly lemony or citrusy, but in a chemical way.
Effect: I didn't notice that big of a difference on my lines as at Vitamin A, but this one was meant for brightening and it did its job. However, it just wasn't that special compared to other brightening/whitening mask (Papa Recipe Bombee Whitening, My Beauty Diary Black Pearl, The Face Shop Solutions Pearl,..). I used this when my skin was in pretty good condition, the only thing I was aiming at was lightening a big blemish mark on my chin. It was a bit lighter, but the difference wasn't that significant. I'm thinking that this one might be nice to use as a treatment plan, so one every few days because ingredients are lovely and might have a better effect long term. It didn't break me out like vitamin A.
Ingredients: here
Worth it? I'm on the fence about this one because I think I haven't seen it's true potential, since I only used one.

ETUDE HOUSE 0.2 Therapy Air Mask
Cosmetic Love, $0.64

Hyaluronic Acid
Sheet: the sheet is only 0.2 mm thick and that makes it not just one of those almost invisible ones, but it's also very comfortable and soft. It's a bit big for my face like most and again on the lower part of my face since I have a petite face.
Essence: like at most mask it's a light, toner-like essence that leave a slight tacky layer.
Scent: very alcoholic. Seriously, it's like sitting my a barrel of schnapps, though it's a very chemical smelling alcohol. The scent is like a drunk punch in the face and I really wasn't a fan of it.
Effect: I expected hydration and that's what I got. It felt very hydrating and it left my skin looking nice. In terms of effect, it's a nice one, but also not amazing.
Ingredients:here
Worth it? Yes because it's super cheap, but I'm also not that comfortable with all the alcohol, though it wasn't drying at all.

Collagen
Promises skin firming.
Sheet: the same as at Hyaluronic acid.
Essence: milky essence, like a very a very liquid lotion and it needs quite some time to absorb.
Scent: nothing specific, a cosmetic type of scent.
Effect: this didn't do anything dramatic, it just nourished the skin, nothing else. It was like I used a regular moisturiser, but it's probably again that type of mask that has better cumulative effect. It promises a firming effect, but I haven't noticed anything like that.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? No sure, maybe if I used a whole pack. At least it's cheap and it feels nice, so ok for a pampering.

ESFOLIO Vitamin Infused High Concentrated Essence Facial Mask
Milk
eBay, $1.80
This one promises to help restore elasticity and add moisture. It contains alcohol high on the list, but I didn't notice the latter when I used it and an even more surprising ingredient here is ginseng, valued as one of the best anti-ageing ingredients.
Fit & Sheet: this has a regular, thick mask. The fit is a bit big for me, but I just scrunched it up a bit.
Essence: this has one of the thicker essences that more resembles a lotion. It's absorbed pretty quickly and doesn't leave a sticky finish.
Scent: it's quite a strong scent and a bit strange. The closest I can describe it is like those hard candy with milk, but it's a bit more chemical than that.
Effect:I didn't think much about this one as it was on my face and immediately as I removed it because all it seemed was moisturising. But in the morning my skin just looked better and my smile lines were reduced, so it's elasticity claim and high moisture are real. It didn't help anything with a spot I had (from the Banobagi mask I'm 99% certain) and my skin wasn't softer or smoother, but I still liked this one.

Worth it? Yes.

LOVEMORE Intensive Hydrating Moisturizing Facial Mask
Wine Yeast - Whitening
eBay, $2.25
Contains ocean water as a base and promises to brighten the skin.
Fit & Sheet: This one had me confused when I opened it because you get three pieces - the protective plastic layer, the actual sheet mask and an additional blue paper protective layer, which I at first thought was the actual mask (that would actually make it cooler). The fit was ok, it's a bit big on the lower part, but in that respect actually very comparable to most others. It's a thin, silk mask, so almost invisible when wet.
Essence: is super light and absorbs within seconds leaving no traces behind.
Scent: it's in the name - it smells like yeast.
Effect: Immediate results didn't leave me happy because my skin looked  more uneven than usual, but in the morning it looked really nice. The redness I had around an old/healing spot was diminished, the skin was fresh, even and smooth to the touch. Despite having an essence that's completely absorbed within a minute, my face didn't feel tight and I didn't feel like I need to rush with extra care. This one was overall nice if you don't mind the yeast scent and it's good also for those who have oily skin and/or who hate heavy skin care.

Worth it? Yes, particularly for oilier skin types.

October Favourites, Disappointments, Wishlist & Everyday Heroes

A different type of format for the end-of-the-month post. I only had three favourites that I haven't mentioned in a while because I've been mostly sticking to the same products for the past few months and most have been in last favourites posts already. I share my favourites every month, but you don't get to see a general overview of products I use every day, my current skin care routine, body care and also what caught my interest or disappointed me in a span of a month. So this will be a mix of everything and I hope you don't find it too much at once.

FAVOURITES

I won't say I'm a big fan of the formula, especially when comfort is concerned because these are thick and super sticky in the first half an hour after application. However staying power of these is outstanding and Pioneer quickly became my perfect red. I've spend a couple of my visits to the drugstores trying to find something similar to L'Oreal's Blake (which to the best of my knowledge is  discontinued), preferably in a matte liquid lipstick form and I realised we have very little cool toned red shades, at least as pretty as this one by Maybelline. It's such a beautiful cool red with a pink-cherry base that has a timeless feel. I'll call this a perfect Snow White shade.

I've been avoiding peach blushes for a while now because I felt they look a bit too warm/unnatural on my pale skin and I prefer using mauve-rosy blushes for a more subtle, defined look. But I grabbed this at random, since when it comes to blushes I have phases when I dig out those I haven't used in a while and it reminded me how great this blush is. Applied with a light hand it gives me a very believable flush and the sheen in this is amazing - it's just like you'd apply Mary-Lou Manizer over a blush. TheBalm blushes are my favourite in terms of quality because they last so well on my cheeks, but all were in the peachy-pink or plum family before this year, however, now they finally released two blushes that are so much colours: Balm Dessert and Balm Beach.

PALMER's Swivel Stick
This is still the only lip balm I use and the only one I ever truly loved, but this month I found its new super power. In the last  months I've suffered a few minor injuries. First I fell and twisted my ankle, scrapped my knee pretty bad and it took about a month to heal (I couldn't bend my knee for almost two weeks). I still have visible cuts and I suspect I'll have a permanent scar there. And second I got a long thin burn going from the knee to my foot on one leg. Both injuries have been healing slowly, despite using panthenol and other creams, until I decided to use this. It started to heal so much faster, it erased 60 % of that burn in a week or so, before it just looked the same for a month. The scrape on the knee is a bigger challenge because it was a deeper wound, but I've seen some improvements as well. I need to buy some extra products from Palmer's, these really are effective.

BRILLIANT FIRST IMPRESSIONS
/Če vas novica še ni dosegla, The Body Shop končno prihaja tudi v Slovenijo. Sicer bo le spletna trgovina, ampak bo vseeno veliko lažje priti do izdelkov. Kdaj bodo odprli svoja virtualna vrata še ni popolnoma znano, pravijo, da zagotovo pred decembrom, ustvarjene pa že imajo profile na socialnih omrežjih Facebooku in Instagramu/

*THE BODY SHOP Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
I think I'm in love with this, at least its effect on my skin which is right now in such great condition. It's clear, soft and very radiant and this is the only thing I've been using. It's a dry oil, so there's very little of that greasy feeling, even less than at Nuxe, so that's a step up in my books, except for the scent which is somewhat nutty-herbal. Nuxe is still brilliant, though, and way cheaper, especially per ml, but I'm tempted to buy a full size of TBS.

*THE BODY SHOP Almond Milk & Honey Shower Cream
I loved this immediately when I tried it. The scent is divine, like a honey with sweets type of scent, but also with notes of comforting almond. I love it way more than Honeymania, their other honey scent which they promised will smell like the real deal, but it ended up smelling floral. Almond Milk line is designed for sensitive, dry skin and this shower cream feels like a lovely product, so I'd like to explore this line more.

*THE BODY SHOP British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask
This is a typical moisturising masks that I'm sure you can leave on overnight, though they recommend you wash it off after 10 minutes, which I did because it's a sticky thick gel. The effect of this were impressive. Not only was my skin nicely hydrated, but it was also super smooth, soft and it looked so good, in fact good enough for a no foundation day next morning - both time I used it. Its effect reminds me a lot of some Asian sheet masks, like TFS Solutions or Snow White, Papa Recipe and MBD Black Pearl. I also need to mention the scent, which is fantastic. I hate that granny rose scent that's in every rose scented product - this is far from it, in fact it's the most authentic proper rose scent I've encountered. It genuinely smells like roses that are planted by the house.

*L.O.V. LOVtreat Color & Care Nail Lacquers
640 Soft Sensuality
You just can't go wrong with a L.O.V. nail polish. Each one I've tried I loved, this one included. It's a sheer nude formula, so at least three coats are needed if you want that milky effect, but it applies nicely, lasts well and it apparently even has some nourishing ingredients - we'll see how that pans out. I'm loving the packaging to death, all of their nail polishes should have a rose gold cap.

DISAPPOINTMENTS

In the last month I've been exploring locally accessible sheet masks, checking out what we even have in Slovenia and Balea's are some of the very rare ones, also the cheapest along with the a CadeaVera one (hydrating with pomegranate. They have one more, but it's a hydrogel that costs 3 €). I tried four versions in total (Vital, Aqua, mit Aktivkhole and Born to be Lazy), three recently and these have to be some of the least impressive sheet masks out there. I recall Vital being okay-ish, but the other three were a waste of my time. Vital, Aqua and Born to be Lazy have the thickest and least saturated sheet I've tried, so they aren't comfortable, neither super dupe moisturising like Asian masks are, though effects of Born to be Lazy and Aqua weren't completely bad, they just weren't as impressive as other masks I've tried.  The black Coal one has a lovely material, truly the sheet is so comfortable and nice, but it left my skin feeling tight, uncomfortable and with no visible effect. I won't be buying these anymore.

EVERY DAY HEROES AND OTHER PRODUCTS I'VE BEEN USING

MAKEUP

I'm still using CATRICE COSMETICS Liquid Liner in 010 Dating Joe Black every day, while for mascara I've been using three: ESSENCE Volume Stylist Curl & Hold Mascara (my fave, but it's starting to go dry), MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational Mascara in the new super pretty metal packaging (it could be more volumising and fan out the lashes a bit more. Not completely impressed by it to be honest) and most recently L.O.V. LASHseduction Instant Volume Mascara (super volumizing, but very wet for now and super messy).

I've been mixing it up with foundations, so I don't always use my favourite MAYBELLINE's Fit Me and neglect others, but none is as good, so I won't mention them. In the last week I've been trying to test the new L.O.V. EXTRAordinary Perfecting Fluid Foundation that I was sent, but I need to mix the lightest shade with THE BODY SHOP Adjust Drops to be able to pull it off. Overall it's CATRICE Nude Illusion formula in an innovative packaging - a thick, creamy texture with a medium coverage that can be build-up to close to full and it has a satin finish. For powder I've been using BOURJOIS Java Powder all month and as concealer BOURJOIS Radiance Reveal on good days (running kind of low now), while COLLECTION Lasting Perfection Concealer was my choice for days with spots + noticeable circles, switched from CATRICE Camouflage concealer because it looks too unnatural on me.

I've already talked about THEBALM blush under favourites, but for some extra highlight I'm still using the super-duper-shiny-it should-probably-be-illegal Unicorn Highlight by MAKEUP REVOLUTION (what is happening to me? I need something new).

For lips I've been wearing mostly MAYBELLINE Super Stay Matte Inks because I was testing them, but after that review was posted I returned to lighter formulas to give my lips a break, at the end of the month I settled back on my old trusted favourite NYX Cannes. I got a Catrice's lipstick in Lucy's Red from the Dawid Tomaszewski LE this month, you can find swatches of it and the highlighter stick here.

On my nails were only two nail polishes. In the first part of the month it was ESSENCE the Gel Nail Polish in 98 pure beauty and in the second L.O.V. nail polish mentioned above. I've been having a nude stage for months now. My top coat is as always SECHE VITE.

SKIN CARE

Day routine:
- Just water or if I have panda eyes I'll use MIXA Micellar Water Anti-Dryness
- TONYMOLY Panda's Dream White Sleeping Pack or when I get scared Panda will run out, GREEN LINE HydroMineral moisturiser which they recently discontinued (Basic for normal/combination skin is the same, anyway)

Night Routine:
- BIOBAZA Face Cleansing Micellar Oil (liking it less and less because it doesn't remove mascara well)
- COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (every time I stop using this for too long my skin gets worse. Staple for stable skin) or THE ORDINARY Advanced Retinoid 2%. I never use these at the same time.
- NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Oil

In the last week I've been using THE BODY SHOP Oil instead of Banila, Nuxe and Sulwhaso, so I can properly test it without interference with other products.

BODY CARE

From shower products I've been most enjoying using BILOU Shower Foam, though BALEA's is exactly the same, it just doesn't smell as nice. I've actually used BALEA far more because typically for me I'm saving BILOU since it's "the good stuff". For a body moisturiser I've been using SOAP & GLORY Smoothie Star Body Buttercream. It's the body butter whose scent I like the least and I want to use it up quickly, so I can buy something from THE BODY SHOP (Shea and Satsuma are at the top of my list for a long time now, but the new Pumpkin Vanilla is so praised I can't ignore it). I actually got the Christmas version of the later, Frosted Berries, which smells like yogurt with forest fruit and it's to me a spring/summer scent. Soap & Glory is working great for dry skin and I don't mind at all it needs some time to sink in.

I gave up completely of MITCHUM's Deodorant and I'm also not impressed that much by LADY SPEED STICK, so went back to REXONA to see if it works again, but unfortunately it's failed me a few times, so I'll have to find something new. NIVEA's Pearl &Beauty in spray is still great, but the roll on version did not impress me.

I still use only L'OCCITANE 20 % Shea Butter as my hand cream (Original and Vanilla) and PALMER's Swivel Stick as my lip balm.

HAIR CARE

Still using NEUTROGENA T/Gel, but it's not working that well for me anymore. L'OREAL Extraordinary is still my most used shampoo and L'OREAL Professional hair mask the only one I use. I've recently started making my own scalp scrub using sugar, baking soda, a bit of olive oil and some MATRIX Shampoo (I don't feel bad about wasting this one). Leave-in conditioner is still from SEXY HEALTHY HAIR and as always I use DOVE Quench Creme Serum. As a heat protectant I always use BALEA Wunder Serum. I still adore GOT2B Oil-licious Weightless Dry Oil Mist - the best fast fixer, healthy super shiny hair faker.

My hair styling routine has been the same for years now. I use REMINGTON Pro Soft Curls curler which has a 2.5 cm wide barrel, I brush my hair with a TANGLE TEEZER so I get more polished waves instead of spiral curls and then I get them into shape that lasts using GOT2B Rise 'n Shine Soufflé and finish with LEE STAFFORD hair spray. I forgot to take a picture of my hair dryer, but it doesn't matter, since it's discontinued for years now. I use a cheap Remington one and I also use the nozzle plus EBELIN's Round brush.

Avon True Colour Perfectly Matte Lipstick Peach Flatters

$

This is the second shade I got from this line, so I've already talked about the formula and its similarity to Milani's Moisturising Matte lipstick, which alongside this one are my second favourite classic lipstick formula (after Colourpop Matte X). Peach Flattters is one of the original shades, they've expanded the range since the launch (I have the new Awakening Rose too, but I'll post swatches sometime later) and it's one of those shades that tends to look very different depending on your skin tone.

I've reviewed the formula when I posted about the shade Ravishing Rose, but this is again another very high quality matte lipstick with a lovely siliconey-soft formula that just glides on the lips and has a nice sort of matte finish. To me Colourpop Matte X have the most perfect matte finish among lipsticks, but these are my second favourite, since they are very close to being properly matte (though I have to say the new Bourjois Rouge Velvet the Lipstick is so lovely too and even more matte looking).

A few years ago I was on this endless quest for peachy-pink lipsticks that actually work with porcelain skin tones and don't look orange. Well, this is another such shade. It's a muted peachy-pink with just the right mix of both tones and though it's muted, it still has that bit of brightness that lifts up the skin tone. However, if your skin tone is pink, this will look orange on you, while on those who aren't as pale as me, I suspect it won't just look lighter, but also pinker. I have no dupes, Milani's Darling is much pinker and the discontinued Catrice I'm Matt About You is brighter.

I got mine from the fabulous Adjusting Beauty who swatched all shades. Regular price in Avon catalogue is 8.5 €, though they often run an offer.

Have a great day!

Sheet Masks: My Scheming and Papa Recipe

MY SCHEMING

My Scheming is a Taiwanese brand and they have a large selection of sheet masks, not just of different formulas, but also different types of sheets. I bought all of mine on eBay, seller house_of_fashion.2013 with whom I have great experience. Prices for most are $1.80, some are $2.03 and Hello Kitty version is $2.47.

Classic Series Moisturizing Facial Mask
Skin Clarifying Astringent
This one is praised as a saviour for skin with breakouts and problems with excessive oiliness. I got it just in case my skin has a freak-out, so that's when I used it.
Fit & Sheet: The classic series has a pretty standard sheet, material isn't stated in English on the pack, but I think it's cotton that's thin, but not utra thin like some sheet masks. The fit isn't bad on my petite face, just a bit big in the lower part, as a majority of sheet masks I've tried.
Essence: is very light, as expected for such a mask and it's absorbed quickly. At all My Scheming masks you have plenty of leftover essence that I use as a toner for the next few days.
Scent: medicinal, nothing special, but you can smell it when the mask is on the face.
Effect: I used it when I had a volcano forming on my chin, so one of those nasty pimples that just erupts full force and refuses to heal or disappear for a week. My chin felt itchy because of the infection before I used it and though it still tingled for the first 15 minutes, it then subsided. Once I removed it, the remains of the essence absorbed quickly and my skin started to feel tight, but it felt smooth, matte and dry to the touch. Pores looked the same and the spot didn't diminish immediately. By the morning the spot didn't look that much smaller, especially compared to COSRX patches which prevented it from becoming bad, but my skin was completely matte. In terms of oil control this is pretty brilliant. My skin isn't exactly oily, but I do get a shiny forehead and this kept it at bay really well. I wouldn't call it a mask for emergencies, but it's great for oily skin that just refuses to stay matte.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? Not for me, only if my skin becomes very oily, but if you are having trouble keeping your skin matte, you might want to give this one a try.

Moisturizing Essence Series Facial Mask
Oolong Tea Oil Cut Mask
I got this one for free and I didn't hear anything about it before I got it, but it claims to be rich with vitamin C and tea phenol. It promises to help regulate oiliness, improve blackheads and large pores, so this one is for acne-prone and oily skin.
Fit & Sheet: it's got a thin sheet, like other My Scheming masks I've tried and this one is almost invisible on the face. It's heavily saturated with the essence, so it sticks well and feels comfortable. Again it's a bit big on the lower part of the face.
Essence: like at most My Scheming masks, it's a light toner-like essence that absorbs fast. There is a lot of it and because the sheet is wrapped in an additional plastic coat, it drips like crazy when you take it out.
Scent: it's got a hospital/disinfectant scent, like a few other My Scheming masks.
Effect: about ten minutes after I took it off my skin started to feel tight (I haven't applied a moisturiser yet). Like at a lot of Asian masks I got that classic "my skin looks so healthy look", fresher and a bit brighter (due to niacinamide, but it wasn't like at brightening masks). A few smaller spots diminished by morning, but the large, more prominent one on my cheek remained the same. Pores didn't look smaller, nor did it help with blackheads. I'm thinking this one might have a better effect if you use it several times a week.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? It's not bad, again as I said more for oily skin, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Invisible Mask Series Moisturizing Facial Mask
L-Ascorbic Acid Whitening
This one and Mandelic Acid one are some of the most frequently mentioned as masks that have the best visible results. L-Ascorbic Acid promises to tackle uneven skin tone.
Fit & Sheet: It's one from the invisible series, so it's an ultra-thin one that's almost see-through, but not completely. It's also has one of those plastic wrappers, so when you open it it's super drippy. The fit is a bit large for my petite face.
Essence: very light and it absorbs fast leaving nothing behind, just as the two masks above plus the Mandelic one.
Scent: like bleach or cleansing supplies, basically it's like you just walked into a hospital.
Effect: I felt slight burning - a strange sensation considering my skin is very far from sensitive. After I took it off, I noticed no immediate results, but it was at least moisturising enough without leaving any residue behind. The next day maybe my skin was a bit more even, a bit smoother, but I'd say the biggest difference was in that it was a lot more matte than usual. Just like the two mentioned above, it's one of the mask that I'd say would be nice for oily skin.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? I wasn't as thrilled about the results as a lot of others and it's again a mask for oily skin. Wouldn't repurchase.

Moisturizing Essence Series Facial Mask
Mandelic acid
This was one of those that I was most excited to use because I heard a lot of positive things and it was the most frequently mentioned as a mask that has the best visible results.
Fit & Sheet: I described the sheet for this series at Oooling Tea - thin sheet that's slightly too big for me around my chin. Again it's very saturated with essence and it dripped a lot as I was unfolding it.
Essence: Very light, like a toner and it absorbs very fast, leaving almost nothing behind - so the same as the other three above.
Scent: Again it smells like a hospital, in particular that disinfectant scent. This changes in time that's on the face in it becomes sour, like acid. That lingers afterwards, but I wasn't that bothered.
Effect: This is a mask that has the best immediate results and my mistake was that I used it before going to bed. It makes the skin much brighter and diminishes spots, as well as reduces redness. But it's not a particularly nourishing nor moisturising and I really wasn't happy with my skin in the morning because those creases you get from pillows were much more intense, also my smiles lines were more prominent. It was such a wrong time too because I was woken up abruptly the next morning, so in the next two minutes I was applying eyeliner and trying to get dressed, obviously no time for foundation before I rushed into a car and I just prayed my skin will unfold/un-crease into something resembling human before I reached the town. So I would recommend this only as a treatment right before a special event, especially if you have some spots, but as an overnight treatment use something that you know will add elasticity to the skin (like Banila serum or Nuxe oil).
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? I was a little bit let down and I find My Beauty Diary Black Pearl much better, but I might give it another chance.

Hello Kitty Series Moisturizing Hydrating Essence Facial Mask
Black Pearl Brightening
I got this for the packaging, obviously, but also because Black Pearl from My Beauty Diary is one of my favourites and I hoped this one works about the same. It's a limited edition one and it exists in three versions of what I think are My Scheming's most popular versions (aside from Pearl, it's Hyaluron and Snail Essence). It has a cute Hello Kitty pattern of the sheet with a bow and whiskers, which just makes it so cute.
Fit & Sheet: It's a classic My Scheming, like at Astringent -thin, but large for my face, so it was creasy a lot. It has a bow and whiskers pattern on the sheet, however, it's in a pale peach shade, so unfortunately not that visible especially when wet.
Essence: a light, toner-like essence that's quickly absorbed. It reminds me a lot of MBD Black Pearl.
Scent: Nothing special or noticeable, but it's not medicinal like the other My Scheming masks.
Effect: This one made my skin instantly more bright and even, also nicely nourished without any tightness that I experienced from some masks above. Its effect is indeed very similar to MBD Black Pearl, so I liked it, only the sheet isn't as nice-fitting as MBD.
Ingredients: here.
Worth it? It's not as good as My Beauty Diary's version, but similar. It's worth it, but I'd rather buy MBD because it's smaller.

PAPA RECIPE Bombee Masks
I've already raved about the original Bombee Honey mask, which was at the time my favourite mask ever, that was until I tried the extended range of Bombees. I embarked on a mission to try all the different versions, decide which one is best and then order a full pack. Two versions impressed me even more than the original, which I shared in my past monthly favourites, while the other two weren't quite as nice, but still some of the best sheet masks I've ever tried. If you're a sheet mask enthusiast, I really recommend you try these, though these are not easy to find as some others. I got individual ones on eBay ($3.95-6.15, seller: mystery_ju) and now I ordered a full pack on Sweet Corea (still waiting for the parcel).

Bombee Honey Mask
I already reviewed this one in detail, but as I said it's one of my favourite ones ever, so I repurchased it despite the high price. It does everything I want and it makes my skin look fantastic. It has very similar effects as MBD Black Pearl and TSF Snow White in a way that the skin looks more even, with less pronounced redness, it's smooth, hydrated and happy. It's popular for a reason. Review here.
Ingredients: Here.
Worth it? 100%

Bombee Whitening Honey Mask
I tend to enjoy brightening/whitening masks the most, though the original Bombee is brightening enough on my skin already, but this one truly wins for me. It has niacinamide high on the list.
Sheet & fit: Fit is the same as original, so it's ok for me, it's only a little bit big around the chin as a great majority of masks. The sheet is one of those thin ones, though not completely invisible on the face as some are.
Essence: similar as at original it's a light toner-like formula, but leaves a lightly damp/tacky layer. You have plenty of leftover essence that I use as a toner for the next few days.
Scent: A great honey scent, a bit creamy. I enjoyed it a lot.
Effect: This is a fantastic mask that not just evens outs the skin, but actually brightens. I think this is the first time I notice a mask lightening a mark from a spot. Skin is both nourished, calmed and super soft, truly I could not help but admire the condition of my skin in the morning and went for a no foundation day, only my circles were still a problem.
Ingredients: Here.
Worth it? Absolutely. I already ordered a full pack of these.

Bombee Rose Gold Honey Mask Pack
This one has a  high content of Damascus rose, which is also said to be brightening, but the main feature is the rose gold mesh design it has.
Sheet & fit: Fit is the same as original, so it's ok for me, it's only a little bit big around the chin. The sheet has the most beautiful gold honeycomb design that just looks so luxurious. That's what I call a proper treat.
Essence: is the same as the original and whitening version - light, but leaves a lightly damp/tacky layer.
Scent: I get mostly honey, but here it's mixed with something, probably rose, but it's definitely not a granny type of rose and I actually like this combo.
Effect: It's another brilliant one that evens out the skin tone by calming everything down, it nourishes and leaves the skin super soft. I had this annoying spot on my chin that just refused to calm down (I started using one new item of skin care which was very likely the cause why it appeared and refused to heal) and this just toned it down significantly.
Ingredients: Here.
Worth it? Definitely, especially if you enjoy that your skin care looks pretty too. I'm planning on getting more of these.

Bombee Black Honey Mask Pack
A black sheet version of the Bombee masks, which contains propolis and manuka honey extract.
Sheet & fit: I wasn't a fan of the sheet. Yeah, it's black and it looks cool, but the material wasn't soft, it was too much like regular paper. Fit was ok, but I didn't like how much of the area around the nose wasn't covered. If you're looking for a great black sheet, try Sexy Look's.
Essence: I heard it has a black essence and that it can stain, but mine was clear with just a hint of grey tint and just like at the other versions, it's light and it leaves a slight damp/tacky layer that absorbs fast.
Scent: exactly the same as at original, a nice honey scent that is noticeable.
Effect: About the same as at the original, though it wasn't quite as good, possibly because the product evaporated from the sheet too fast instead of absorb in the skin. But in general the skin was nourished, more even and healthy looking. Even though it's my least favourite Papa Recipe Bombee, it's still one of the best sheet masks I've tried.
Ingredients: Here.
Worth it? It's nice and it works about the same as the original, but the sheet isn't as nice. Still if you find these are the cheapest version, go for it.

Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask Pack
Ginseng is one of the most treasured ingredients in K-beauty and I also liked the idea it's an oily essence. It's more expensive than the rest of Bombees.
Sheet & fit: This one felt more paper-like than the original sheet and it was more rigid which was apparent as it dried. It also didn't stay wet for as long as others. There are herb bits on it, but not much and they are small, so it looks like someone added some tea in it.
Essence: initially it feels the same as other Papa Recipe ones, so light and fast absorbing, yet nourishing, but this one leaves a light oily feeling once it dries on the skin.
Scent: it's almost exactly like Angel fragrance. Oriental with heavy herbal notes (it's just like patchouli) and some honey. It's a strong scent, so it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
Effect: While it initially feels more nourishing than other versions, my cheeks weren't as hydrated as I hoped they'd be in the morning (I used it on its own, no extra care). Otherwise it's the same as the rest of Papa Recipe, so my skin looked like a picture of health in the morning - happy and more even with a refined skin texture.
Ingredients: Here.
Worth it? Others are nicer, though maybe using it long-term would give the ginseng more chance to show its power. Considering it's more expensive and the scent is not that yummy honey one, I wouldn't buy it anymore instead of others.  You'll like this best if you're a fan of oriental scents and you like the mask to leave an oily filter behind.

One more version exists called Papa Bombee Honey Butter Cream Mask which I have yet to try. I hear it has a creamy essence and that it's very nourishing.

Have a great day!

*CATRICE Kaviar Gauche LE
For this holiday season Catrice created the most stunning limited edition collection in collaboration with the bride couture brand Kaviar Gauche (the third time already). It caught my attention immediately when I saw it on Veracamilla's blog, who also swatched the palette and highlighter for those interested. I have the whole collection (apart from one brush) very graciously sent to me by the best woman in the PR business, Natalija, who saw it on my wishlist. Collection consists of an eyeshadow quad in neutral colours, a massive highlighter, a beautiful brush bag and five brushes (eyeshadow blending brush exists too). The packaging has a Physician's Formula Nude Wear vibe, so it's dressed in nude leather, but instead of rose gold, it's combined with the always classic gold. I think it's a breathtaking collection and I'm sure it'll be a big hit. Launch dates will likely vary from country to country, but they state it'll be available from November to January.

Eye Shadow Palette C01 Sand Souci
A gorgeous eyashadow palette in a gold-leather design that contains four neutral shades in different finishes. It's got an iridescent skin tone shade with pink shimmer, an iridescent golden brown, a satin medium brown and a matte cool brown. Pigmentation is ok, but Catrice's newest single eyeshadow are much more buttery and opaque then these (I'm holding back for now, but I will go buy a few because I was so impressed in the shop). Eyeshadow colours combine well, blend ok too and with them I get a nice, subtle neutral look that gives the eyes a bit of definition.
€ 6.29

Highlighter C01 Éclat D'Or
The obvious first - this highlighter is huge! It's almost the size on my face and you get an whopping 35,7 g of product, so it'll last forever. It looks light beige-pink in the pan, but it contains warm gold shimmer, so it ends up a classic warm champagne highlighter which is what I like best. It's meant for face and body, hence the size, so it's a type of highlighter that's more on the subtle side, but the glow is nicely visible and the shimmer is so fine, you don't see any glitter, just a glowy effect.
€ 6.29

Brushes
Highlighter Brush - a thin fan brush with thick enough bristles that is picks up highlighter ok and it's also quite precise if you want. It's soft and gentle on the skin, also all of these are synthetic. € 5.29
Eye Lid Brush - a classic shader brush, so the one you use to apply colour on your lid area. Since it's synthetic and a bit stiffer than those with natural bristles, it works better with cream formulas, but it's not problematic with powder eyeshadows too. € 4.29
Blush & Contour Brush - my favourite because I've been missing an angled blush brush in my collection. It's soft and picks up colour well, but I wish the bristles were just a bit shorter. € 5.69

Brush Bag
Another eye candy in the collection. The faux leather is soft and looks nice quality, overall the whole collection feels and look much more expensive than it is. There is space for five brushes in bag with slots varying in sizes.
€ 6.29

My brushes arrived in a set (three brushes: powder, eye lid and blush &contour, plus a makeup bag), but all the things are sold individually too, apart from powder brush which is exclusive to this set. It comes packed in a gold box, so a great gift idea and it costs 17.49 €.

MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational Mascara
I've had the waterproof version a couple of years ago and I really liked it, now I got the regular version pretty much mainly for the metallic (LE?) packaging (my hording of pretty things has a purpose, I swear), but also, since I started noticing regular mascaras are now working for me a lot better than before, I wanted to see if I like this one as much as WP version. Overall it's ok, predominantly a defining mascara, though it gives some volume too and I've noticed it gets more volumising the longer I have it, so as the formula thickens. It's not keeping my lashes lifted as well as I'd hoped, even though it starts off well. The longer I have it, the better it's getting and the more I like it.
DM, 9.29 €

A repurchase. I bought my first one in the beginning of June, used it every single day and though it's not completely empty, I couldn't get a sharp line, so I bought a new one after only four months (I expected it'll last me longer). So far it's my favourite liner, though it's not the most precise, but I've been using it every day for 5-6 months now and it hasn't let me down yet. The formula is super black and very matte, it lasts all day with no smudging, flaking - anything really, it just lasts. The applicator is a felt tip that's comfortable, flexible enough, but not flimsy like a brush.

CATRICE Dawid Tomaszewski LE Wild Matte Lip Colour
C02 Lucy's Red
I'll admit I got this because of the packaging, but the lipstick itself is great, as is usual for Catrice and I think this is the same as their new Ultimate Matt formula. They describe the formula as matte and it's pretty close, though it's more of a satin-matte instead and it's not like the Bourjois lipstick I'll describe bellow. It's creamy and glides on the lips easily, but this formula isn't completely opaque with one swipe, so it needs building up. Staying power is ok for a classic lipstick and it stains due to the pink base. Lucy's Red is a cool toned cherry red, a proper pin-up shade. Despite appearances, the packaging is plastic.

CATRICE Dawid Tomaszewski LE Glow Stick
C01 Fashion Flash
Another one I got for the packaging, but I like creamy highlighters in general. It's a champagne glow with a warm undertone, which suits my skin tone perfectly. Formula is creamy and soft, it easily transfers on the skin and blends well. I apply two coats, since the first usually blends out too much, but the glow is moderately strong as you can see on my picture. Packaging is again plastic and feels somewhat cheap, but it looks lovely and I love the triangle design.

*BOURJOIS Rouge Velvet The Lipstick
06 Abrico'dabra and 09 Fuchsia Botté
These caught my attention a while ago as does anything that claims to be matte, but given they are 14 € I held back on buying them. I was later send two shades, while a total of twelve shades exist ranging from nudes, pinks, reds to burgundies and as is usual for Bourjois the shades are classic, most of them universally flattering. I swatched all of the shades in the shop and shade 03, a light pink, is the one I like most, though I also loved 05, a rosy medium shade. Formula of these is surprising. I expected a waxy type of formula that is usually used for matte finishes (like at Catrice above), but this one is so buttery like it has not wax, it just glides on the lips with no breaks. The finish is pretty much like matte liquid lipsticks when it sets, so needless to say I'm loving it - also these barely transfer, just like a liquid versions. The latter made me want that 03 shade even more, while I know I won't be wearing these two shades, since I dislike orange and bright pink isn't an every day shade for me. Staying power is nice. It survived a meal, but it starts to fade after maybe 5-6 hours and it's not the nicest even fading, but you don't get that ring of colour. 06 Abrico'sabra is an orange shade and 09 Fuchsia Botté is as the name suggests a fuchsia shade in a warm pink version. One thing that bothers me about these is that they are impossible to apply precisely because they are so buttery, so make sure you have a matching lip liner.

*BOURJOIS Miraculous Contour Universal Lip Liner + Primer
I never had a clear lip liner before, but these are meant to keep the lipstick from bleeding and feathering. This one feels like a silicone primer for the lips. It helps the lipstick go on smoother and should help it stay in place, though my lipstick always stays in place anyway. In terms of adding staying power, I haven't seen a difference yet, but I haven't used it with all my lipsticks and I wear long-wear formulas anyway. It's a retractable eyeliner, so no sharpening is needed.

*L.O.V. EXTRAordinary Perfecting Fluid Foundation
010 Ivory Elegance & 040 Honey-moon
The next L.O.V. things are all new products for fall. EXTRAordinary perfecting fluid promises some anti-ageing effects, more specifically to hydrate, add elasticity and reduce fine lines - bold statement for makeup. The stand out feature is the packaging which is an upgraded cushion/tension pack and the foundation is dispensed by pressing a button. You get a standard foundation puff for application, which is a bit hard compared to my Tony Moly one, but it blends seamlessly. I got two out of four shades - the lightest 010 and third in the line-up 040, both are for medium skin tones and much too dark for me, so I can only make 010 work with the help of a lot of TBS Adjusting Drops. Formula is creamy and thick, Catrice has the most similar formulas (excluding HD) and it a lot of aspects it behaves like Catrice foundations, to be more specific the discontinued Nude Illusion. Coverage is medium, but easily buildable to medium-full. It looks ok over the pores and lines, but it doesn't hide them and the finish is just like at Nude Illusion that satin finish with a level of healthy radiance, but it is a noticeable foundation. Overall it's a very likeable foundation, looks ok on the skin, it doesn't look cakey and it doesn't make the pores look worse, so I would rate it high if it weren't for the horrible shade range that excludes everyone under or over NC/W25-35.

*L.O.V. LASHseduction Instant Volume Mascara
Just a classic volumizing mascara. When it's new the formula is wet and gloopy, so it's got a potential to be clumpy if you go over two coats, but it gives a lot of volume, so it's at the moment my most volumizing mascara (compared to Lash Sensational, Paradise Extatic and Essence Volume Stylist). It's a messy mascara - at least I can't get an application without getting some on my lids, but otherwise it doesn't run or smudge during the day. The brush is classic, not exactly defining, as it's more meant for building up the volume, but I also don't need a separate brush for combing the lashes. Due to being so wet, it drops my lashes, so it's not my personal favorite, but if you don't have problems with that and you want a lot of volume, consider this one in your selection.

*L.O.V. LOVtreat Color & Care Nail Lacquer
640 Soft Sensuality
I think these are replacing the old line of nude nail polishes that had a white cap or at least they did on the stand in my local drugstore. All shades are pale and I believe sheer with one coat. They contain calcium, proteins and almond oil which nourish the nail and I have to say that when I took this shade off, my nails did't have that usual beat up/yellow stained look. My shade 640 is a milky nude, more on the warm side, but it looks very natural and as I said it's sheer with one coat, though it has a thick formula. With three coats I get 80% of coverage. Like all L.O.V. nail polishes it lasts great on my nails.

*DUALcover Concealer & Retoucher
025 Sand Sophistication
This has a combination of a stick concealer and a liquid concealer. The first has medium- full coverage, but it's quite a stiff and thick formula, meaning obvious on the face and not easy to work with. The second is meant for under the eyes and it claims it contains "Shadownyl", which brightens the under eye are and lessens the appearance of wrinkles. It comes in two shades, I got the darkest one, so I can't wear it, at least the stick side, but I mixed the liquid side with TBS drops for the purpose of testing. The liquid side is very shiny-dewy and it stays like that all the time. Coverage is light-medium, but buildable, due to that shiny texture which never truly sets, it also creases.

*THE BODY SHOP Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup-Remover
This is most similar to micellar waters or toners. It's light, non-greasy, but effective when it comes to regular mascara and other makeup. It's gentle on the eyes, I feel no stinging at all and much like micellar waters it leaves nothing behind. The scent can be described as a day old camomile tea smell, which isn't my favourite, but it's not strong and overall this is a likeable product.

*THE BODY SHOP Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil
I like this a lot. It's a dry oil, so there's very little of that greasy feeling, but the skin is nourished and more importantly in such good condition. I've been using this for three weeks now, a little goes a long way as with most oils. This makes my skin so soft and radiant, I really like its effect. I might even replace my trusted Nuxe because it's even drier and I like the ingredients more as it contains black cumin seed oil, camellia oil and rosehip seed oil, but I'm not sure yet because the price is very high. The only thing that's a downgrade from Nuxe is the scent, since TBS has such a basic oil smell.

*THE BODY SHOP British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask
The name might not imply it, but this is a moisturising type of mask that also promises some radiance. It contains rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and aloe vera, but also alcohol relatively high on the list and the texture is like a gel. The smell of this is great. I despise that granny rose scent they put in cosmetics, especially since it smells absolutely nothing like real roses that are planted by the house, which I go sniff every five minutes when they are in bloom. This has that exact authentic rose scent - finally something true to life. Although based on ingredients I'd say this is a classic sleeping mask that doesn't need to be washed off, TBS' instructions say to rinse this from the skin after 10 minutes and since it ends up kind of sticky, I did wash it off after 20 or so minutes both time I used it. It left my skin looking really good and feeling very smooth and soft, in fact the results remind me a lot of some Asian Sheet masks (MBD Black Pearl, TFS Solution Pearl, Papa Recipe), so this is a really nice product in my eyes and I already put in on my wishlist. And to think I wasn't even going to use it because of the rose scent.

*THE BODY SHOP Frosted Berry Body Butter
I adore TBS body butters, I tried nine versions (Vineyard Peach, Honeymania, Shea Butter, Satsuma, Passion Fruit, Grapefruit, Black Cheery, Almond and Cherry Blossom), well ten if I count this one, and all were fantastic, though textures differ, as some are thicker than others and those are the ones I like most. Vineyard Peach is my ultimate favourite, followed by Shea Butter and Satsuma. Frosted Berry is a Christmas edition and it has a forest fruits yoghurt type of scent, so fruity and fresh, plus slightly sour. Like all nourishing body butters it needs time to sink in, which makes me more secure that's it's actually moisturising my skin, so it's something I use before going to bed.

*THE BODY SHOP Almond Milk & Honey Shower Cream
I loved this immediately when I tried it. The scent is divine, a honey sweets almond type of scent that's so comforting and so much better than the flowery Honeymania they tried to sell as as a proper honey scent. This one is from the line created for sensitive, dry skin and it doesn't contain soap, though despite that it foams ok and as you might expect the formula is creamy and not stripping.

*THE BODY SHOP Nigritella Eau de Parfum
This one was such a blast from the past to me. I used to wear L'Occitane's Vanilla fragrance that contained vanilla orchid notes and this has that exact note in it. It's such a rich floral note with strong oriental vibes and a base of vanilla, which is more sophisticated here than in most fragrances. I loved it straight away.

*THE BODY SHOP Eye Colour Stick
Cyprus Bronze
I'm a fan of stick eyeshadows and I have several versions. In fact I have a very similar selection of shades from other brands, however, Cyprus Bronze is the lightest version of such a shade I own. My winners are Kiko eyeshadows with their rich pigmentation and excellent staying power, this one is already not as pigmented and it doesn't transfer on the lids quite as opaque, but the texture is still smooth and soft. Shade is a classic bronze shade with shimmer that looks good on anyone. Staying power is ok, but not exceptional, it creases a bit, but it doesn't end up a mess on the lids.

MY HOIN NI Arbutin Whitening Mask
Since I've gone through most of Balea masks, which proved to be disappointing, I'm exploring our drugstores further for some decent finds, though we have so little of them (Essence, CadeaVera, Garnier, Schabens and Innel are some I found). Based on ingredients these My Hoin Ni ones are the most similar to Asian brands, in fact they look very impressive, so I picked up the brightening version first, since those are the ones I like most. And guess what - this is almost exactly like My Scheming masks. The sheet is thin compared to Balea, but it's not ultra thin like some, it fits ok (again it's slightly too big around my chin), it's very saturated with product and it actually drips. It has a plastic protective filter just like My Scheming and some others. The essence is light and absorbs fast, so this is nice also for oily skin. Scent was not my favourite, as it was kind of chemical and sour. Effects were noticeable - brighter, more healthy looking skin as it usual as brightening masks (arbutin does its job here). My skin started to feel tight in a few minutes, so my normal-dry skin needs some extra care after it. So far the best sheet mask I've found in Slovenia and the only one I can compare to Asian ones.

L'OREAL Casting Créme Gloss
360 Black Cherry
After ten years of not dyeing my hair anymore, I've started to crave a bit of a change. I actually really, really want to get bayage, but first I don't know if I can trust any of my local hairdressers, since I've been burned so many times (the reason why I stopped dyeing my hair) and it's expensive. So one day I just arrived at an idea that I want a deep red-purple shade and I started exploring my options. I wanted a temporary colour before I commit to anything and I found that L'Oreal added some nice looking dark shades that promise to work also on such dark hair as mine. I actually had one of these colours way back close to 10 years ago when they launched, I got it due to massive popularity and because I needed to cover my bad hair dye job, so I got a chocolate brown, which didn't really show up well on my hair, but I read reviews about this red Black Cherry shade before I bought it and most said it's the best among Casting colours. These wash off after 28 washes.
I already dyed my hair with this, which I posted on Instagram Stories for those who follow me. I ended up using just one box, it turned out to be enough, despite the fact I have very long and thick hair. Results are visible, but as I kind of suspected nowhere near what the box shows. My dark brown hair now has a red shine that is visible in the sunlight, otherwise the difference is very subtle. I wanted more, but I'm not disappointed by the results. I'll do a full review of this, I just want to see how long it will last, since I wash my hair once or twice a week.

*VICHY Dercos Micro Peel anti-dandruff Scrub Shampoo
Since I've tried Matrix Scalp Synch scrub, which has been discontinued, I'm trying to find every similar product to try. Luckily this one found me. It contains 1 % piroctone olamine, 1,5% salicylic acid and glycerine, plus there are beads suspended in the gel. It's meant for oily scalp and it promises to remove both visible dandruff and those flakes that are stuck to the scalp (that's what I have most problems with and most shampoos aren't capable of removing it). The packaging is great, it has a nozzle applicator which means you can apply it directly to the scalp and the tube is soft, which my weak arms greatly appreciate. It produces a thick foam and you can feel only a bit of those beads, so it's not like a proper scrub and it ends up feeling very gentle. They advise you foam it up and massage it well all over the scalp, then leave it on to work for three minutes. Given that it's a shampoo for oily hair I was concerned it might be drying, but I guess that glycerine is doing its job , so my hair didn't feel that dry. It removed about 95 % of the dandruff that's stuck to my scalp, which I call an excellent result. It hasn't cured the dandruff yet, but I noticed it's less of it, so for now I'm giving it a thumbs up, however, I've seen good results with some other products and then the stop working, but well see with this one. I just really, really want this to be the one that fixes everything. One thing that it didn't help with was the itching, that's the only minus I can find so far.

L.O.V. EXTRAordinary Perfecting Fluid Foundation

$
0
0

EXTRAordinary perfecting fluid is a new foundation this fall by L.O.V. Cosmetics and they made very bold claims about it not just being makeup, but also having some anti-ageing effects. It promises to reduce fines in two weeks and they made a study with 30 women to support this claim. It also promises improve the moisture supply and the elasticity of the skin, plus they say it's non-comedogenic and it has a SPF 20. But if we first focus on the obvious - the packaging. They advertise it as an on-the-go foundation, so something you can carry in your bag, since you have everything included - an application puff and a handy mirror, plus it's not a messy foundation or one you'd be scared will accidentally open and spill in your bag, since everything is packed in a neat compact. It comes in only four shades, all more or less for medium skin tones, so I could only test this with the help of TBS Adjusting Drops

Texture: this is a creamy foundation, meaning it's relatively thick for a "modern" foundation which tend to be predominantly very liquid. Catrice Nude Illusion (discontinued), Beyu Nutri Foundation and Milani Conceal + Perfect have this type of formula, so when I say thick that's the formula I'm thinking and not the paste type of texture. It blends ok and I never ended up with any strange unblended patches. I tried applying it with fingers and with the added sponge, so I can say it works both ways. I need to mention I only used this is combination with Adjusting Drops, which don't mess with the texture of foundations, but I always mix the foundation and drops on my hand, dot it with fingers on my face and blend with tapping motion using the puff.

Mixed with Adjusting Drops that's why the shade looks ok. On the lips it's Bourjois Cotton Candy lipliner as always. It's just foundation on the skin, so no extra concealer or powder, picture was taken a half an hour after application. By the way, my skin is combination/normal, NC/W10.

Coverage & Finish: This is one of the better covering foundations in the drugstore. I'll say it has medium coverage, even though it might actually be more, but I was applying it in a thin coat compared to probably most people because I dislike the feeling of heaviness on my face (with any foundation. I'm not one of those who essentially drowns her face in foundation like you might see in some YouTube tutorials). I did try to layer it once and I got a good almost full-coverage, so I didn't need any extra concealer under the eyes and on my nose, but my dark freckles were visible. It looks ok over the pores and lines, but it doesn't hide them. It's got a satin finish that's similar to all three foundations I mentioned above, it can look more dewy from the start, but it later settles. It's a noticeable foundation which makes sense considering the coverage and it's on the heavy side for my taste, it also can transfer.

Staying power: Considering it's a high coverage foundation with a satin finish you can expect more from it and that's what you get. It definitely lasts a work day and longer. It fades evenly without becoming flaky or patchy which to me a sign of good quality.

Shades: I got two out of four shades - the lightest 010 and third in the line-up 040, both are for medium skin tones and much too dark for me. 010 Ivory Elegance is about NC 25 with quite a neutral undertone, but it leans to warm and 040 Honey-moon is maybe NC 35, again the undertone isn't strong, rather more neutral, though warm. Unfortunately both of these are two of the darkest foundations in my cupboard, so I can't do proper comparisons. Catrice HD Liquid Coverage in 010 is 1-2 shades lighter than L.O.V. 010, while Milani's Conceal + Perfect 01 is somewhere between the two with an intense, yellow tone. L.O.V DUAL concealer, which is also new and I talked about it in my latest New in,  is also somewhere between the two, but closer to 040. I added Maybelline Fit Me  Luminous + Smooth 110 Porcelain so that those with fair skin tone see that this is very, very far from being a foundation for us.

Packaging: The stand out feature is the packaging which is an upgraded cushion/tension pack and the foundation is dispensed from the hole in the middle by pressing a button at the edge. One pump doesn't push out a lot of foundation, so you definitely need a few pumps, though I stick to only two. Added is a puff for application which is the same as at cushion foundations, so you're blending the foundation with the velvety side. These are some of my favourite for applying foundation because they blend the product so seamlessly, but this puff is bit hard compared to my Tony Moly and Missha one. If you buy this foundation, it might be wise to invest in more puffs, so you always have a clean one. You can get them on eBay and AliExpress.

Nails: L.O.V. LOVtreat Color & Care Nail Lacquer 640 Soft Sensuality

Scent: This has almost no scent. I can only detect it if I put my nose right to the swatch and I smell a gentle floral scent.

Price and availability: L.O.V is sold in Müller here, foundation costs 14.99 € for 12 ml of product.

Overall it's a nice foundation, actually better than nice and it looks good on the skin without emphasising imperfections, also the coverage is impressive as is the staying power. It's got some bold anti-ageing claims for makeup and as far as those go whether they are an exaggeration or a gimmick - I wore this for almost two weeks and I can't say I noticed anything in regards to my smile lines, but it is a foundation that doesn't make them look like canyons as some do. But I need to comment about the shade range, which is embarrassing and illogical for a company that hails from Central Europe. Shades are only appropriate for medium skin tones like everyone in central Europe has Mediterranean skin tones - great job L.O.V., I'm sure you'll sell a ton of these.

Have a great day!

My top 10 favourite lipsticks

$
0
0

The last time I made one of these posts I was just starting blogging and I was still deep in the late 00's corpsy nude trend, though even then I had some nice pink favourites and a red. I've since jumped more on the modern 90's revival, I rarely wear anything very nude because with my colouring I feel I need something to define the lips, so it makes me look more alive as well as pulled together. I've attempted to do this post several times, versions of pictures have been taken four times in the last two years, but every time I had other things to review, so my choices became outdated because I'm constantly finding new favourites. Last year especially I found so many great new shades, so I narrowed it down to 10 and swatched everything again since I have a proper camera now. Just about every shade here is matte because that's my favourite finish - shine and especially metallics are not my thing at all. This is also my 1000. post on the blog, so enjoy.

I'll do it in a sort of an order from lightest to darkest because I like being organised, but if you're wondering what order of my favourites would be, it would start with Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nude-ist, theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Committed, Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes and Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Pioneer.

As I said in the intro nudes are no longer my thing, but this one is so pretty and wearable, so it's one of my rare exceptions. It's similar to both Mac's Patisserie and Peach Blossom except that it has a satin matte finish that never looks dry. It's a is a beautiful neutral nude with an equal amount of pink and peachy tones, it's just the best of all worlds and a nude that doesn't wash me out. As cheap and useless as the packaging of Jordana's lipsticks looks, these are seriously so good, pigmented, non-drying and all wear nicely - for a few euros you really get a great lipstick.

Those who read my posts regularly might already know that Meet Matt(e)s are my favourite liquid lipsticks and Committed is my favourite shade. It's the one I wear most often along with Nude-ist, Cannes and Cami, so it's a part of my "just grab it and don't think about it selection of shades". Committed is a difficult colour to describe, theBalm says it's a pinky nude, but it's so much more than that on me, as it definitely has a bit of peachiness to it, so it's a bit like throwing pink and peach plus a bit of mauve in a blender, but keeping the shades very muted. The formula is very pigmented, dries in a few minutes to a perfect matte finish, but it's not uncomfortable, it's long-lasting, doesn't transfer or smudge and fades nicely.

I've called this my favourite shade ever for the past two years and though Committed is a tough contender, I still think I like this one more. It's obvious from my bottle it gets a lot of wear as it's the only one you can see how empty it's getting. It looks quite different on me than on most, I've seen it look very bright on some, but on me it's a muted warm rosy shade that has enough pinky tones to lift the complexion, but still looks natural enough on the lips. The formula is a mousse that isn't as pigmented as theBalm's, but this is still the best of Velvets and it takes some time for it to set to a matte finish.

This became my most worn shade in the last few month, but before, I admit, I neglected it because it's not the best liquid matte lipstick formula when it comes to staying power. But this is my perfect my-lips-but-better shade and great for every day wear. My tube is now over a year old and as these age, the thinner the formula gets, so now with one coat I get something that's more similar to a stain, but because it's a lip cream, it's more even than those actual stain products which tend to stick to the central dry parts of the lips and look terrible. This one has this semi-translucent texture that looks like you natural lips are tinted with this shade. My natural lips are quite pale, so this just gives them some life. It's a comfortable formula to me, I never noticed any dryness, it takes longer than at others for it to set to a matte finish and the staying power isn't the best, but since it's such a natural colour, it's not that obvious, the central part has wiped off.

I knew the moment I tried this one that it's my new all-time favourite classic lipstick formula. It's so light on the lips, but intensely pigmented and the finish is just out of this world gorgeous for a lipstick and closest to a liquid lipstick I found, apart from the newest Bourjois lipstick Rouge Velvet. The colour became an instant favourite of mine as well. It's similar to theBalm's Charming, but lighter because it doesn't oxidise on the lips and it's less warm, so more neutral rosy.

Sollow became an unexpected favourite of mine. I ordered so many Colourpop shades and I risked it with this one because I thought it might look orange on me, but this one truly stands out because it's the peachy pink that's almost impossible to find for pale skin tones. It looks completely different in the tube, it even applies peachy, but in minutes it starts to oxidise to a light muted peachy pink shade. Formula definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea because it's very matte and can be very drying, but it lasts great on the lips.

This is a complete underdog - in my sea of matte lip colours finally something shiny. Well, sort of. Don't let the name fool you, it's not really matte, actually not even kind of matte at application, instead it behaves more like a lacquer. It's so comfortable and it smells amazing, but you also get fantastic pigmentation and staying power is surprisingly good for something with a creamy-glossy finish. Devotion is a medium warm muted pink, but it's still too pink that'd call it a natural shade for me, but when I'm at home, I always just reach for it because I love applying it. I wish they had something like Nude-ist or Committed in their range

My latest favourite and this post contained my previous favourite red in all version I made, which was L'Oreal Blake that got discontinued, so I embarked on a mission to find either a dupe or something similar/even prettier because what's the point of showing something that you can't get anymore. Well Pioneer is an even more beautiful red. I have a neutral undertone so I can pull of both warm and cool reds, but the latter are at least in my eyes more sophisticated and I've always liked them more. Pioneer is a stunning cool toned red with a cherry base that looks so so elegant and sophisticated - it's just perfect in my eyes. The formula, however, is not my favourite despite the outstanding staying power. Truly these will last you through anything and you'll be scrapping them off at the end of the day with a waterproof remover. But these are thick and sticky, so they don't feel as comfortable as other lipsticks, at least for the first hour.

I have a considerable collection of deep burgundy shades and this one is my favourite (Laetitia is a bit lighter, more berry and my first love, but it's not sold anymore). Adoring is a rich burgundy shade that leans more to cool tones, but it's more neutral. Finding a liquid lipstick formula of a vampy shade is a challenge since most leave sheer patches, but this one is perfect - opaque in one coat and it applies evenly. It takes longer for it to turn matte than the other two shades I own, but otherwise the formula is the same and it smells like After Eight which is always a plus.

This is a shade that just makes me gasp at the sight of its beauty. It's my perfect deep shade, a rich deep berry shade, an excellent mix of burgundy with purple. Mac's D for Danger which is also one of my favourites is more red compared to this. The formula is like at Sollow Ultra Matte, but I feel it's less drying, still if you have dry lips, you won't like it, but for me the colour makes it all worth it.

CATRICE Kaviar Gauche LE 2017

For the third time in a row, Catrice joined forces with the couture bridal designer Caviar Gauche and created a limited edition collection. The previous two were no doubt beautiful (last year's eyeshadow quad is stunning), but this one takes the cake. It's a gorgeous combination of gold with the creamy beige leather that looks so lavish, especially for a drugstore brand, though it's not completely original since Physicians Formula already has a similar line called Nude Wear, except there it's a combination of leather with rose gold and the prices are higher. Collection is already available in shops (in Slovenia) and it contains an eyeshadow palette, a massive highlighter, makeup brushes and a brush bag.

Eye Shadow Palette
C01 Sand Souci

This caught my attention first because the whole design and the colours look stunning. I've always been a neutral girl at heart and this contains four wearable, everyday shades in different finishes. It's what you'd expect from a bridal designer, so universally flattering, enhancing natural beauty with soft hues and also not super pigmented, but more in a way what Burberry does with their eyeshadows, something you need to apply gradually, therefore avoid overdoing it - well that's the way I like to see it, but what I mean is that you need a few layers for an intense look. One strange thing I noticed at these that I never encountered before is that these swatch better with an eyeshadow brush than fingers. They eyeshadows are on the dry side, so maybe that's why and the eyeshadow brush that's in this collection works best, possibly because it's stiff and synthetic.

There are four shades in the palette:
An iridescent light pink shade that acts as a highlight.
A light gold brown which gives the lids a gentle wash of colour with shine.
A light taupe brown shade that despite looking much darker than that gold brown one is actually similar on the lids. Both are quite light and simple lid colours, so applying this one in the crease doesn't work that well.
A matte cool brown is the most pigmented in the bunch and as you might expect the defining colour due to being both matte and darkest in the palette.

All shades blend well and create nice transitions as I hope you can see on my swatches. Staying power is impressive I must say. Honestly I didn't expect that much mostly because the pigmentation is on the light side except of the darkest shade, but these lasted perfectly applied on my normal lids for 9 hours before I washed it off. There was no creasing and very little fading.

Overall is it worth it? It's very pretty, that much is sure, but Catrice does have better quality eyeshadows in their singles Art Couleurs formula. They are more buttery and more pigmented, but KG palette contains decent neutrals with a good staying power.

Palette costs € 5.99.

Highlighter
C01 Éclat D'Or

I think you need to see it in person, but trust me when I say this is a massive highlighter. You get a generous 35.7 g of product (for reference Catrice's High Glow Mineral highlighter has 8 g and TheBalm's Mary-Lou has 8.5 g, so you get about five times as much) and the whole pan is almost the size of my face. It's a regular powder highlighter and though it looks beige-pink in the pan, it's got warm gold shimmer, so it ends up a classic warm champagne highlighter. It's meant for face and body, hence the size, so it's a type of highlighter that's more on the subtle side, but the glow is nicely visible and the shimmer is so fine, you don't see any glitter, just a great glowy effect. The packaging isn't as special as are the other products and it's also feels more fragile, so don't plan to throw it in your bag, as it very likely won't survive. It's got an embossed pattern in the powder, but with a few uses I already erased one of the letters and part of a flower. Staying power is again surprisingly very impressive. Just like the quad, it was still on my face after 9h.

Worth it? It's a great value for money and the tone of the highlighter is gorgeous, however, if you're a fan of strong, very visible highlighters, you might find its glow underwhelming (it's applied heavily on my picture).

Highlighter costs € 5.99

Brushes

Brushes come in two kinds here - individually and in a set. I got the set that contains a powder brush (exclusive for the set), a blush & contour brush and an eye lid brush, plus the makeup bag. I also got an highlighter brush which is only sold individually. All are synthetic. The handles are beautifully made with gold ferules and ends, while the middle is dressed in faux leather.

Powder Brush
The biggest in the bunch as well as the one that's most dense. It's fluffy and soft, yet due to being dense expect a heavier application of powder. For that same reason it works also for blushes and cream products, including foundations.

Worth it? It's only available in the set, but yeah, it's nice.

Blush & Contour Brush
Cut at an angle to fit the contours of the face, it can be used for blush, contouring and highlighting, especially since it's not that big. It's soft and picks up colour well, but I wish the bristles were just a bit shorter because I prefer very dense blush brushes that get the job done faster, while this one is more for gradual applications. It blends well and works well with blushes.

Worth it? I like that it's small which fits my small face, but due to longer bristles it applies the blush in a gentler layer than my faithful Ecotools Blush brush. Overall if you really want it, yes, it's worth it.

Price when sold individually: € 5.59

Highlighter Brush
My first fan brush. It's a soft and thin fan brush with thick enough bristles that is picks up highlighter ok and it's also quite precise if you want. It deposits a gentle veil of product, so it's nice for strong highlighters, but I've actually started using it for powder too, especially under the eyes.

Worth it? I never owned a similar brush, so I can't compare, but I like it and it works ok for me.

Eye Lid Brush
A classic shader brush, so the one you use to apply colour on your lid area. Since it's synthetic and a bit stiffer than those with natural bristles, it works better with cream formulas, but it's not problematic with powder eyeshadows too.

Worth it? Honestly this is the one brush I'd skip. It's just a bit too stiff for my liking and I prefer my other brushes (which are more expensive).

Price when sold individually: € 3.99

One more brush exists for the eyes for blending. It's sold only individually.

Price of the set is 17.49 €.

Brush Bag

Another eye candy in the collection. The faux leather is soft and looks nice quality, overall the whole collection feels and look much more expensive than it is. There is space for five brushes in bag with the slots varying in sizes, so all brushes in this collection fit in here. The closing mechanism works great, so all I can say is that is really such a lovely bag.

Worth it? Hell yeah, it's gorgeous and feels well made.
Price: € 5.99
